Legitimate Question-
NDSU over Montana in 2003- D2 team coming off 2-8 season over #3 1-AA team
OR
If Montana beats NDSU in 2014

I'll hang up and listen

Honestly, the 2014 game.

They've won 25 in a row, and the last OOC opponent to keep it within 20 was Kansas State

That 2003 team was pretty bad. No Ochs at QB for most (or all?) of the season, home loss to a DII, loss to the Cats, home loss in the first round of the playoffs, etc.

This is you guys:

Stop, it's embarrassing...

2003 easy, and 2014 not happening.
If you can garentee it won't happen, does that not make it a bigger upset if it does?

because the possible #4 ranked team beating the #1 ranked team is a bigger upset than an average Div 2 team beating a 9 win playoff team?

#1 ranked team = in the middle of the most dominating run in FCS history, and the longest win streak in the nation

#4 ranked team = overranked, saddled with scholarship reductions and a baffling head coach, with possibly the worst kicking game in all of division one

In 2003 Montana was THE program. Field Turf, 25,000 seat stadium, D-1AA power. Most "experts" in North Dakota expected a 40+ point beatdown. I don't think anyone is expecting a 40 point beatdown in Fargo. Just hoping for a Bison W and College Gameday to return.

Bismarck Bison Fan here,
Great question.
I watched that game carried on ABC ND Sports and it was an amazing test and win for the Herd moving up to FCS. Most Bison fans have always looked up to the Griz as far as national recognition and elite program back 10 - 15 years ago. Funny how its changed.
However I think 2003 was a bigger upset because we were a no body on the FCS level yet, you the Griz were the big boys.
On Sept.20th in Fargo with the Griz being ranked at #4 and Bison at #1 nationally everyone will have their eyes on it.
However with the run the Herd is on, and the way they played in Ames last Saturday the young new lineman showed tremendous character and we now know what they are made of.
We beat the pants of Youngstown state 2012 when they were #3 and we were #1 by 40 points.

Lets just hope its a game that goes to the 4th qtr to decide who wins. That is what we all want to see, a good close football game. We play football the old fashion way, try stop us. No one now days seems to have an answer.
Bring your ear plugs to Fargo, the dome is LOUD when you have the ball. Lets get this rivalry going and doing again in your place next year.
Go Herd, continue the 2014 stampede.
BisBison

Sounds like College GameDay might be interested in coming back. They have been dropping hints this morning on the program.

NDSU/Montana = Maybe GameDay is coming back!!!
