Big Sky vs Missouri Valley Champs in the Season Opener?

A cat buddy of mine has an intriguing idea, what if the season opener was a matchup of the BSC and MVC winners each year.

I really like this Big Sky/Missouri Valley challenge series. It's fun to watch and serves up a nice test for these two conferences.

You could add some excitement, though, if the prior year's conference winners met in the season opener. For example, SUU and NDSU would've been the opener this year.

You could alternate the location yearly....one year at the Big Sky champ...the next year at the MV champ. Logistically it would be a challenge, of course, since most schools have their schedule fixed for the following year by now...but I think having the conference champions going head-to-head would generate a lot of buzz.

Thoughts?

Cool idea, but just know that 95% of the time it would just be NDSU kicking the shit out of whoever win the Big Sky.

95% is being pretty generous to the Big Sky

And schedules are set too far in advance, aren’t they?

OOC schedules are normally set about 3 years in advance...BUT if you make this Big Sky VS MV every year, you could just switch opponents after the year ends. If SUU was scheduled to play NDSU, but Eastern won the Conference, then the team Eastern was going to play would play SUU instead....Seems way to easy for the Big Sky to ever make it work...

I suppose there’s a way. I’m perfectly happy with the current conference vs conference alignment we have with them.

True, we did beat them a few years ago in game 1 but that would be the 5%

I would rather beat them in the last game of the season than the first game of the season... Maybe someday soon. ;)

Much, much more difficult, as we found out in '15.

Swell idea.

What happens when every year there are 22 co-champs in the bsc with their fucked up schedules?

#bsc.

And are we talking preseason #1? Because that gives the Cats several extra months to plan the rest of their schedule.

They each play a quarter. Which gives the BSC a chance in the second half when UNDSU wears down a little. Still ends up 56-10.

1 in 20? Not generous enough. We already have 1. Lol.
