Big Sky Tie-Breakers

Does anyone know the tie-breaker procedure for the Big Sky in terms of the auto-bid/conference champ? The obvious scenario is Weber beating Sac and us beating Weber with us all three teams at 7-1. I’m not saying that this will happen with so much football left to be played but I’m just curious. Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere. Thanks! Go Griz!

When two or more Conference members are tied in the final Conference standings, the tie shall be broken for purposes of determining the NCAA FCS automatic bid only, and shall be determined on the following basis:
1. Head-to-head Competition
2.Record against common CONFERENCE opponents in descending order
3. Record against common NON-CONFERENCE opponents
4. Sagarin Rating
5. Coin Flip

Thanks! So does that mean there would be 3 conference champions from the Big Sky’s perspective (ignoring the auto-bid)?
Yes
This is the major "crime" (if you want to call it that) to the unbalanced schedule. In the seven seasons since 2012, the Big Sky has had multi-champions in four of those years (dual champions twice and tri-champions twice). It becomes, not exactly a "participation trophy," but certainly something that is not quite so special. But "it is what it is" with so many teams in the conference. And that has been discussed on eGriz ad nauseam ... with no end in sight.

Bottom line (as I said on another thread): A BSC championship is a trinket the team can earn on the way to the real goal -- a shot in the playoffs. And that means winning games, no matter what schedule you end up with.

Winning the conference used to mean something. Not anymore.

On the surface it means a lot. You can sell it to recruits and to alumni for example. But deep down, you are so correct.
