Good read. Sam assigns every team a percentage chance of making playoffs.

They talk about non counters when it comes to the schedule, Montana needs to get central Washington off the schedule for next year and ideally find another FCS opponent or beatable FBS opponent, we should not be scheduling D2 teams.

Agreed. Non counters are just the same as FBS losses. Winning does nothing to help, and God help you if you lose. FBS losses might even be better if it’s competitive. It’s just hard to fathom why D2 schools are scheduled anymore when we can get teams like Monmouth or North Alabama to come to WaGriz.

Non-counters actually still count, just not as much as FCS games do.

I don’t like us playing a D2 school, but the last two times we made the championship game we played a D2 in both seasons.

The only time I can remember it mattering was in 2010, but that team had way more issues that playing another FCS school wouldn’t have fixed.

If we’re good and win the games we have to, it won’t matter.

This. Although I would prefer to play non conference games at our level, if it comes down to a D2 cupcake win deciding if we should sneak in the playoffs we likely arent going to make it very far anyway.

I actually liked this year's non conference schedule. Would have liked to play UNDSU or SDS but it winning or not, it was a good lead up to conference.

I liked this year’s schedule as well. Personally, I would prefer our FBS games be with non P5 programs which would be winnable. But those make little economic sense as we can make as much or more playing a home game.
