Big Sky Conference Tournament

Of note, the officiating has been solid. They've let the teams play. Let's hope that trend continues. If so, that hurts the Cats the most. They get to the line a lot.

Based on the Griz game tonight, I agree. The refs had no influence on the game, from what I could see and hear.

Hats off to the refs for all the no calls tonight. Not sure what the total foul numbers were but they let the game be decided by the players and not the refs. Let’s hope that continues tomorrow and Wednesday.
Tomorrow’s game against NAU should be a good game. NAU is playing really well right now but for lack of a Hail Mary shot at the end we’d be playing ewu tomorrow.
I felt going into the tournament Aoki could be a difference maker and I thought his play against their big in the middle made a big difference early on. I think points in the paint favored us which is not often the case. Again, haven’t looked at the final stats but just my observation.
Really proud of Whitney tonight. I’ve been pretty critical of his guard play all year but tonight he played a very heads up game. Having said that he still dribbles to much on the perimeter but when he goes to the basket he’s deadly. If the coaches don’t have hm and Bannon shooting 1,000 3 pointers a day in the off season somethings wrong. Bannon needs to learn how to shoot not from his hip but above the shoulder line. He front ends most of his 3 pt attempts which tells me his energy is wasted before he even gets into his shooting motion. Just my observation.
Anyway good game by the Griz tonight but it ain’t over till the fat lady sings.

Coming into the game, Bannon was shooting 41.3% from 3, and Moody 41.9%. Have you ever seen anyone block Bannon's 3 attempt?

I agree on Bannan and Whitney. Hell, if Whitney narrows his footing base, thar alone will help. I actually think, improving Whitney's shot would be easy.

Fundamentally, Bannan's shot will take more time. He needs to use an adjustable stool. Put 1 right in front of him. That ball cannot fall below the level of the stool. Gradually elevate the stool until he has completely gotten rid of that low push.

Pretty solid performance for the men tonight. Moody is a man on a mission and that was one of our best offensive performances of the season. Wasn’t too impressed with the defense tonight, but I’m confident they’ll get back on track with that tomorrow. Also I have no idea how Brock McKenzie ended up in Poky, but he needs to get his happy ass out of there. I’d welcome him with open arms in Missoula.

Onto NAU who’s playing their best Basketball of the season. It’ll be a tough one, but all I know is I’m really glad we don’t have to play Eastern tomorrow!

If he wants to play successfully at a pro level, he needs to change that shot. The reason he shoots the % he does, is because he doesn't force it. He's usually pretty open when he shoots it. He needs a lot of space to shoot it. How many good shooters in the NBA use a push shot? NONE!

O k then tell me this. Bannon shooting 41.3% and Moody shooting 41.9% game is on the line who would you rather have taking the last shot Moody or Bannon?

Bannan shot 26% from 3 in conference games. Regardless, he is 18/43 (41%) in 29 D-1 games on the season. Not enough activity to be concerned about. If he wants to be a good pro, he needs to make some changes. He was 1st team all-conference as-is.

How many fans in their right minds who've gone to games thinks there's any comparison between Moody's and Bannon's three point shooting?

The dagger: Moody's final trey of the game at 4:24, on an assist from Bannan... which gave Montana a 15-point, 76-61 lead.

I also loved the developing chemistry contributed by Josh Vazquez (5 pts in 25 minutes) and Laolu Oke (6 pts, 2 rbds, an asst & a steal) in 10 minutes. Dischon Thomas also had a huge game, very tough D, 8 rbds and 8 pts in 31 minutes. The Griz will need all three to step up again vs the Jacks.

New format hurts the middle seeds in my opinion. They have to win 3 nights in a row, whereas other seeds only two nights. That day off in the middle is a benefit even for lower seeds who have to win 4 in 5. Want to give top seed best chance? Then reward them as tourney host. Neutral site hurts the one seed.

Go to a WCC Tournament format.

Wasn’t familiar with it so Gad to go look it up. Like that format far better as their is a reward for finishing well in regular season (less games).
