Big Sky commish tipped as potential candidate for MWC job

The Mercury News listed some potential candidates for the MWC commish role, with current BSC commish Tom Wistrcill getting a mention.

Big Sky commissioner Tom Wistrcill: Yet another option linked to realignment and the potential for the MW to eventually add schools. (The top programs in the Big Sky would be prime candidates.) Wistrcill has seen college athletics from the inside, as a commissioner and athletic director, and the outside, as a senior vice president at Learfield, the multimedia company. Whether the MW presidents would agree to hire someone from the FCS ranks, we also cannot say.

I mentioned in the compete at the highest level thread that I thought he would be in the running for the job. I bet you he applies. Regardless of how some of you feel about the Big Sky, I think he's actually done a pretty good job leading the conference. He got us our ESPN deal (which includes 2 Football games, I Basketball regular season, and tournament semifinals and championship game), he got us the Scripps deal which will make it way easier to watch Griz Football (and Basketball) then on Root Sports only after potential deals with FOX and CBS fell through, he moved the conference headquarters into a new state of the art building that has allowed them to do a number of things like up their digital marketing and social media presence (that now competes with the P5 leagues). He also was an advocate for the new FCS All-In show that's on ESPN+ that happened under his leadership, and starting this year he's gonna serve on the men's basketball selection committee. Plus serving as a commissioner in a west coast conference currently helps his profile. I think he's more than qualified.

And for all you pro-move up people, I will say that if there were ever a path to the Griz moving up, this would be your best bet, because who else would know better what UM and msu bring to the table then the current commissioner? I would think you all would and should be advocating for him to get the job. It might just be our in to the MWC.
