Big Sky basketball on Altitude again

OGDEN, Utah — Big Sky Conference basketball this winter will again be featured prominently on the Altitude Sports & Entertainment Network.

The men’s basketball slate includes eight regular-season games, as well as both semifinals from the 2012 Big Sky tournament.

This year’s regular- season schedule includes three Thursday, three Saturday, one Sunday and one Tuesday game.

All nine Big Sky teams will appear once. Games will originate from six of the nine venues.

Defending Big Sky Conference champion Northern Colorado will appear three times. The Bears will play host to Eastern Washington on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 5 p.m. B.J. Hill’s Bears will play at Weber State on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m. Mountain. Northern Colorado will play host to Montana State on Saturday, Feb. 11.

The package begins on Thursday, Jan. 5 when Montana State travels to Idaho State. The Bobcats are back on Altitude on Thursday, Jan. 19 when MSU welcomes Sacramento State to Bozeman. Montana, which finished second in the Big Sky last season and figures to contend for the 2011-12 title with the likes of junior guard Will Cherry and senior forward Derek Selvig back in the fold, will appear in the “Game of the Week” three times. The Grizzlies will take on Portland State at the Stott Center on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. Mountain. The Grizzlies will play host Northern Arizona on Thursday, Feb. 23.

The final “Game of the Week” will air on the final night of the regular-season and could decide the regularseason conference champion as Montana and Weber State do battle in Missoula. Randy Rahe’s Weber State Wildcats are expected to be the preseason favorite. The Wildcats return 2009-10 league MVP Damian Lillard, who missed most of last season with an injury. Also returning are All-Conference forward Kyle Bullinger, and Bamforth, an all-conference guard and the 2010-11 Big Sky Newcomer of the Year.

Altitude will also televise the semifinals of the championship on Tuesday, March 6. The regular-season champion will host those games.

The Big Sky women’s basketball championship will also be televised by Altitude on Saturday, March 10 at 5 p.m. Mountain.

But on a Tuesday? At 5:30?? I swear the BSC does everything in its power to dilute any home court advantage Montana might have in big games.

That's BS. That game should be on a Saturday at 7:30.

Its the same down here, it seems each time Weber plays at home to Montana its on a weeknight...what gives?

And I think you misread it, I think the UM/WSU game in Missoula is at 7pm

it is all in where you put the comma

Big Sky Conference Altitude TV Schedule MEN
Thursday, Jan. 5 p.m., Montana State at Idaho State
Saturday, Jan. 14, 5 p.m., Eastern Washington at Northern Colorado
Thursday, Jan. 19, p.m., Sacramento State at Montana State
Sunday, Jan. 29, 2 p.m., Montana at Portland State
Saturday, Feb. 4, 5 p.m., Northern Colorado at Weber State
Saturday, Feb. 11, Noon, Montana State at Northern Colorado
Thursday, Feb. 23, 7 p.m., Northern Arizona at Montana
Tuesday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m., Weber State at Montana
Tuesday, March 6, 5:30 p.m., Big Sky Men’s Semifinal #1
Tuesday, March 6, 8 p.m., Big Sky Men’s Semifinal #2
the Weber game is listed at 7:00. It may very well be that UM and Weber play in Semifinal #1 the next Tuesday at 5:30, but it seems a bit presumptuous at this point to schedule it.
I hope they at least get it right as UM instead of MU this year.
