Gotta love the Lady Belt Huskies and the attendance for all the teams at this years State Championship held in Great Falls. :thumb:

..and if he stated the actual populations of those two towns it would have been even more impressive.

Big Sky 1, Smog 0

Stanford defeated California for the Pac-12 women's basketball title in front of just 1,845 — in Los Angeles, population 9.8 million.

Meanwhile, Belt defeated Twin Bridges for the Montana Class C state girls' championship in front of 3,500 — in Great Falls, population 60,000.

I'm not so sure it has anything to do with how much there is to do in the LA area. LA people just don't give a shit about sports. Well, that and that fans from Pac12 schools simply have no real desire to travel to LA to watch the games. Consequently attendance at the Pac12 tournaments there have been terrible.

Consequently, next year they're moving the tournament to Vegas. There's plenty to do there too, but I bet the conference has much better attendance.

uh..try getting a ticket to a Lakers game...or even a Clippers game, or just about anything else besides pro football..of course, all those 100,000 people on Sat at USC games and the 70,000 at UCLA, the 100,000+ at the Rose Bowl, etc are All from out of town... frankly, there are hundreds of things to do in LA every day....I don't think you know LA people...but that's good..too many here, anyway...

I have friends in LA. A few love it. A few are doing everything they can to get out. I've been to LA a few times for work and hate it. Poor air, smug people, and terrible traffic. Guess I would rather be in Glacier Park than Rodeo Drive. To each their own though...

I would disagree that people in L.A. don't care about sports. I would agree that people in L.A. don't care about womens college basketball as much as people in other places.

That's right...when I first came to Calif from UM, I thought SF was great...ugh. I moved to Seattle and hated it...heavy traffic, smug, drunk....scouted properties for a high tech start up and had to visit LA..didn't like it at first..hot, crowded, fast....now, 25 years later, from my perch in Pasadena, I think it is the best place on earth...not as pretty as Montana, but I like the variety of sporting events, the arts, opera, drama, universities, diversity of people and language that challenge me daily, and the cultures that make it all vibrant..Air is getting cleaner all the time, subway is growing, and, today, I read my Kindle by the pool and tonight the aroma of Orange blossoms is pretty heady....not bad for a Butte kid.
