Just to clarify a point made earlier, the FCS Committee chooses only 14 teams as there are 10 automatic qualifiers that are in regardless due to winning their conferences automatic bid, usually the conference champion.
What the Committee does do is seed all 24 teams selected, but again they only choose 14 of them.

Well here is the thing, and its really pretty simple. If you don't win out, then that means someones else did and in fact beat us which makes them the better team so they often times go on to the playoffs while we stay home. So yes you do really need to win out or you have years like last year where you drop a couple of games at the end despite being undefeated up to that point and boom your season is over. In fact I can't remember a season that we went to the playoffs that we didn't need to win to get there................

Yeah because no other UM coaches needed to win games to finish 8-3. I’d suggest doing a quick internet search to determine how many GRIZ teams under all these great former coaches advanced to the playoffs with at least three losses.
