Beau Braden Back in Transfer Portal?

Of course, all the way. Guess I didn't emphasize my point clearly. Honestly ... is this young man good enough to have that kind of "draft" leverage? Except in a case of dire need, I just don't see it.
Are you suggesting that you know his motivation for transferring?
Absolutely not ... haven't a clue.

But the situation is even more complex than the COVID problem. Here's a bit about his motivation from last May when he transferred to the Griz: https://406mtsports.com/college/big...cle_6d7453fe-4467-50b9-b80b-6ef07545d3f6.html

He's clearly anxious to play, but there's also a hell of a lot on his plate. However, there's also an answer to the "good enough" question: If he "never saw the field" for a game at Washington State, then that is not a good sign for his skill level (unless it is ALL about the injuries).

All that being said: I sincerely hope things works out in a good way for him (and his family).

Sounds to me like he always hoped to play at Montana, so he decided to give it another try. Seems thing didn't work. Sounds like he had D2 interest out of high school, so maybe he still does.

Yep, I had the same thought. Since he attracted scholarships at the D-I level (even though that didn't work out), seems like he'd surely see the field at the D-II level. FWIW: Central Washington U. plays some damn good D-II football.

This "opting out" stuff is bullsh*t. Especially when schools are then forced to honor the scholarship. If the school or conference decides not to play, that's one thing. If the player quits then I don't think they should have any right to that scholarship money.

Yep. There are a lot of things I'd like to opt out of and still get rewarded.

If Samori and Sammy both decided to opt out tomorrow, I have a hunch that your tune would change completely, and you'd be happy to honor their scholarships as you looked forward to them playing in Fall 2021.

Yes. Big yes.

It’s almost like being extremely talented affords one benefits usually reserved for the extremely talented. ;)

Here's a question that I've not seen a solid answer to. Yes, he's been told to clear out his locker. But I've heard/seen nothing that says his scholarship has been pulled. Did he even have one? Or was he just a Preferred Walk-On, as speculated in an earlier post? If the latter is the case, then I'd guess he's pretty much burned his bridges at UM

Anyone actually know anything?

Beau Braden was a walk-on at both Washington State and Montana. He reported to Missoula before the fall semester. He got sick (not Covid) and was out for a bit, then the majority of the football team got quarantined, then he had individuals close to him test positive, quarantine again. His ability to participate in much of anything with the Griz was very limited.

Very few walk ons who have never or rarely practiced at the school they are trying to play at would have made it through this situation, as unfortunate as it is.

So it seems the only reason we’re discussing this is cause it kinda seems like he’s trying to throw the coaching staff under the bus for something that’s a normal situation? Good luck to this kid and his future endeavors.

Thanks Colter. I had a pretty good feeling he was a walk on and that is why UM has no obligation to honor a scholarship in this case. Sounds like a good kid and I feel bad for him and the situation.

Hey man, I don't make the rules.

"If the player quits then I don't think they should have any right to that scholarship money." ;)
