BCS National Championship

how did Georgia Southern score on Bama, I think final was 45-20 and Bama had its starters in for almost all of game

Alabama finally scores a TD. Kicker hits the upright for a miss. At least he made 5 FG's before that.

Alabama 21
LSU 0

4:36 left in the game

mushy berger talking up the Bama kicker like he is the second coming of Adam Vinateri, then kicker clanks one of goal post....

decent kicker for sure but I have seen better locally

Idahgriz, sorry I read ur original post to mean you thought Boise should be in this game.

I just don't think Bama should be being criticized for having an amazing defense. Even with the first meeting against Bama factored in, LSU averaged 38.5 points per game this season, so it isn't like the Tigers are inept. They are being completed dominated and outschemed by a great defense. Defense wins championships and I'm going to go out on a limb and say while they may get more total yards, there is no way Boise, Ok. State or Oregon scores a bunch of TD's on Bama's D either.
Okay, on the BSU thing. While they would not have been my choice (or any but a few die-hards) to be in the "championship" game, I just thought they and some others should have had a chance.

As for 'Bama's defense -- I would certainly not "criticize" them for their defense -- which is awesome. I just, personally, thought their ability to dominate LSU was totally predictable. Had Bama's kicker been even halfway competent in the first game, this issue would have not been a matter of discussion.

Yes, LSU scored a lot of points, but that seemed more matter of (1) physical dominance of many teams and (2) great field position from their (also) very good defense. But they never, IMO, showed any real creativity or spark on offense.

As another poster said: How did Ga Southern score so many points on the Alabama defense? (Especially given the disparity in athletic talent.) I -- along with some/many experts who do it for a living -- think Oregon, at the end of the year, could have beaten LSU ... and given 'Bama a better run for its money. Moreover, I think Stanford, BSU, or Ok State (with some breaks on D) could have made a better overall showing.

I see UA just scored a TD (Yeaaaa, Bama, my wife says! (Me too.)

Does Alabama deserve to be "national champion"? Of course it does. Might there have been a different outcome if some other team had faced them in the NC game? Perhaps a more versatile, more creative offense, could have done the job, or produced a more competitive game. But we'll never know, will we?

Kicker that is 4/6 in FGs the MVP?
Well, he did tie a bowl record with FIVE fields goals. Except for a late-game TD, he was 'Bama's weapon of choice.

I'm just glad I did not blow several hours of my life actually watching the game (full-time) as it trudged along. Glad 'Bama won, think they are a legit #1 in college football, found it boring to watch them prove(?) it. Also think several teams out there could have made a more competitive showing.)

I love the Playoff system in FCS and I LOVE the Griz, but sometimes many of you guys drink your bathwater! If you think for one minute any team in the country could have beat Bama or was more derserving of Bama playing LSU you're nuts. Their D was what every coach dreams about. It's what every eGrizzer that is waiting in limbo on who our next DC could be dreams about. I watched the Tide Roll and was entertained by their D - also happy for their championship. Their play deserved it.

Now, how about Musberger (sp) dishing up Pease and where he came from. Brent mentioned my favorite program on the BCS championship game. I'm not a Musberger fan, but I liked him mentioning Montana and MISSOULA a couple times. :thumb: :thumb:

Congrads to Bama and Go Griz!!

They allowed an average of 8 points a game for the whole season. They must have had one or two other decent games.

Georgia Southern 300 plus yds on the ground and twenty some points made them look vulnerable.....LSU
is a mediocre offensive team with a steller defense! We will never know until they junk this crap system?

Boise State wouldn't have been in this game even if it wasn't Alabama. Oklahoma State was just behind Bama in the closest 2-3 in BCS history. Oregon and Stanford were also ranked ahead of Boise in the final BCS Poll. Boise was not deserving of being in the chipper. I think Alabama is showing they deserved to be there. And yes, it is boring, but I doubt any Alabama fans are very bored right now. From an entertainment standpoint, the 2001 national title the Griz won was boring as hell. But I was in Chatty and could have cared less cause I sure as hell wasn't bored. I think the BCS got it right this year.

How do you know Boise didn't deserve to be in the chipper........you might ask Georgia as long as it is
all a charade anyhow. Utah didn't belong on the field with the mighty Tide 3 years ago and got an asswhipping in all phases of the game. The excuse was they didn't care about the game.......what a crock!
