Basketball rumor

The spring signing period begins tomorrow, and the rumor is that the Griz will sign a JC sg/sf. It was believed that Matt Martin had told the coaches that he would be leaving, but had a change of heart. What this means is that if and when the Griz sign another player, the rumor is that Stuart Mayes scholly will not be renewed.

Once again, rumor, take with a grain of salt!

Additionally:

The Griz are in the mix to sign Dazzmon Thornton a 6-7 Texas Tech freshman forward , he averaged 1.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10 games this past season and has been told his scholarship will not be renewed so he is looking to transfer. He would have to redshirt next year.

and

The griz are in the mix for next year for 5-10 pg Angelo Johnson . Johnson may have the most diverse list around He listed UAB, Wisconsin, Montana, and Georgetown. Big time recruit for Montana

Actually, the word out is that there are no more scholarships being promised this year......but, "keep your eyes peeled" as there is the possibility of another local area walk-on. It's always neat to see how the Griz will give some of the good Montana players a shot.

This sounds like active recruiting to me.

Will it be the Big Sky or WAC for Luettgerodt?
The start of the spring signing period starts on Wednesday, and although Riley Luettgerodt won't be inking with anybody on that particular day, it won't be long before he does. The athletic 6-foot-5, 210-pound wing just finished a record-breaking career at Chemeketa CC in Salem, and that is going to translate into a Division I scholarship - the only question is from where. Luettgerodt is in the middle of taking two visits which will determine where he'll be headed.

"Riley visited Montana last week and he'll be going to Hawaii this weekend," said Chemeketa head coach David Abderhalden. "He'll make a decision on Monday or Tuesday after he gets back from that. He had a good visit to Montana and enjoyed it and told me that he could see himself playing there. He liked the guys, liked the coaching staff, and liked the direction the program is headed. Now he just has to go to Hawaii to have something to compare."

Abderhalden insinuated that it's pretty much down to a decision between Montana and Hawaii, with Portland State as a third option. While the visit to Montana went well, one thing that would become a major factor is if Grizzlies head coach Larry Krystkowiak decides to stay at the school - he recently interviewed at Pepperdine and is considered a finalist for the job. If he were to leave, that would likely leave Montana out of the mix, but otherwise Luettgerodt is heading into his visit to the Islands with an open mind.

"I think he just needs to have a good visit there and feel comfortable," Abderhalden said. "That's part of what he really liked about Montana was that he felt really comfortable there. If Hawaii does that, then it's going to make it a tough decision and it will come down to the intangible things like who's in the higher conference, who has the better chance of getting to the tournament - all the little things that can get brought into the decision."

Luettgerodt, who was First Team All-State out of Rex Putnam HS in Milwaukie in 2004, finished his career at Chemeketa as arguably one of the Storm's best players of all-time. He set single-game and single-season school records for points, and earned First Team All-NWAACC and All-NWAACC tournament honors. Chemeketa had records of 46-18 overall and 24-4 in conference play during his two years.

This kinda fits category cuz it's rumor. But did Jeff Edwards get a schollie offer from Utah St.??? That's what I've heard. I really don't know if this was wise by Utah St. But oh well. Especially since he's not even the best in the state.
