Ball Spots

That one sequence where the Griz clearly got a first down, line judge signaled first down, chains started moving, and then the head ref said “nun uh” and put us back at 4th and 1 was just baffling
That one actually was a good call. Near side ref immediately signaled short and far side was spot they used and signaled first down. Even though was the width of the field they took his spot…. Purely bad administration taking the spot from far side perspective

I don't think officiating at the FCS level is very good no matter the conference. I was just watching a bit of the Southern Illinois / NDSU game, and there were some pretty blatant holds and a really egregious block in the back right in front of a ref and none were called.

You’d think the Big Sky and MVFC would have better officiating, we are the premier conferences of the FCS. I know MW officiating isn’t all that great either, but it’s at least better than ours right?

My question is was it short? We all thought it was good. I saw the near side ref too. He should have had a clear view. I haven't seen the video. Were you watching on tv, or at the game? If at the game, where were you sitting at the time?

there was the catch out of the backfield on 3rd and long where Gilman clearly got the first down, but they marked it short and then on the fourth and one he got the first down again and they marked short again. I had a good view of it live, and then I watched it again on YouTube and he clearly got the first down in both instances .
This is what I thought too. I haven't see the videos.

My view from the West 30 yard line, it appeared Gillman had the first down on the fourth down carry. On the third down, it looked like they spotted the ball a 1/2 yard short of forward progress.

Was the 3d down the pass to the sideline, with a comeback? That one was spotted incorrectly. My view was from the east side up in row 1 of the Canyon Club. So, I was far away, but had a pretty good view over the top of the players/coaches. Did you watch the video? I haven't. Thx.

At the game in north west. Right away I said damn short and was mad….then they said 1st down and watched the side judge trying to get them to notice where his spot foot was. I guess I can’t be 100% sure due to my viewing spot but sure appeared he was out before the line to gain and the ref was right there and went directly to spot short.

Watching the replay yesterday, it was very evident the 3rd down spot was spotted back at least a half yard. The 4th down spot was also iffy. Not sure if he got the first down or not but, it was close enough that the play should have been reviewed and the call should have come from the conference HQs.

1) i believe i saw an ad for some prescription ointment to help those ailing from ball spots. sounds like it can be pretty helpful judging by the way people did fun things in slow motion during the commercial. B) every time i hear the head ref on the PA system, it makes me think of the narrator of the newsreel films they would show before movies in the 40's.

Seriously. The first time they shorted us in the 1st quarter... when the consensus was a clear first down, was - in my opinion - the moment the first half mojo changed.
From then on, everything became discombobulated and uncharacteristic.
