Aztecs leaving MW

I think MW conf will have a few members be gone! I see the PAC going after more than just SDSU. I could see Colorado State as a viable option for travel partner to the Buffs.
I think the pac go to 14 teams. With tournaments benign held in Vegas and the market I could see UNLV coming along and then either Fresno State or Boise!

I don’t think Pac really wants SMU.. only for market and a toe hold in Texas. PAC didn’t want BYU for religious reasons so why would SMU be much different then, if that was the logic?

I’d still like to see UM and MSU in the MW with even just
WYO
AF
SJSU
HAWAII
RENO
The New Mexico duo.
Boise.

I think Fresno if not invisibly PAC would get taken by BIG12. Especially if UA and ASU, Utah and Colorado stick to the PAC.

It the pac looses anymore schools it folds sadly. If UW and UO leave for sure mail in the coffin!

Is a conference with:
SDSU
Colorado State
Colorado
Washington State
Oregon State
Cal
Stanford
UA
ASU
Utah

Still considered a “P5” conference? Or does it become the P4? That sure looks more like a G5 conference to me…

Going with just football you could do the Big 10 as well

Maryland
Indiana
llllinois
Norhwestern
Nebraska
Iowa
Michigan State
Rutgers
Minnesota (my state by birth)

It's the same for the ACC or the Big 12. Or the SEC. Just make an NFL AAA league with the 30 best programs and be done with it. That's what the TV honchos are pining for I'd bet. Traditional rivalries might survive outside of power football, they are dead in biggest dog power football.

To add one example, why does Northwestern get in the top level over a Stanford? The latter is far more impactful academically and athletically with far more success in Olympic and women's sports. Is TV football money the only factor in NCAA athletics now? Is that a positive thing? Do these programs want to be a AAA NFL league? Why bother with pretending education has anything to do with it then. Personally I think the mega bux from TV that the principals involved are raking in has them ignoring the downside this could have on the relationship college fans have with their alma maters and local rooting interests. Maybe that's just me, but unintended consequences seem to happen a lot.

PAC 12 TV deal is going to want SDSU and SMU. I also saw an article saying UNLV may eventually make the move.

Other markets (Boise, CSU...) are just not big enough.

Good post. Good thinking.

It’s a little more difficult with the SEC, but yes, the point is valid. I guess every conference needs its patsies.

You are a youngster at 51. Wait til you get as old as Kem!

There is a poll on the MWC message board about who should be added? Most votes are for adding no one. Adding the Montana schools is getting some votes.

And that is why Kem uses a desktop. Big monitor, big keyboard and the discipline to proofread.
