Attendance at Prestigious Military Bowl

Remember, I never said that MSU had a better basketball program than UM. You guys are just falling back on the Cat bashing because it is all you know how to do during difficult times. I'm responding to the premise that UM is such an elite sports University that it would thrive at the FBS level.

And by the way, while we are at it, can you guys point out to me where your elite basketball program is ranked in this mid-major poll?

For everyone who is encouraged by San Jose and other bottom dwelling FBS teams, please take a look at the attendance for the game. It is less than MSU in a sellout, less than UM at a regular home game, and very indicative of what the Griz would have to look forward to if they move up.

Kemajic, this one is especially for you.
How does it compare to the average attendance for Montana or MSU BSC road games or to the average attendance at FCS playoff games? Especially for you.....

I'll simply refer all who are dumb enough to still be reading this thread to my earlier comment regarding arguing with the mentally ill, particularly those who don't know shit about college athletics.

And yet, you are always there to respond. I'll give you one more chance:

2)

Go. . . .

At UM, we have a number of successful sports other than football which would thrive at the FBS level. Recognizing that you cat fans are brand new to even a relative level of success in football and quite literally have no success whatsoever in any other sport, we get what you're saying.

But please be quiet now and let the adults discuss a possible move to FBS.

Name two, since you claim to "have a number of successful sports other than football which would thrive at the FBS level."

If you name men's basketball, I will c$%k slap you all the way back to March when you thought the Griz would beat Wisconsin, when in reality they got stomped.

1)
2)

Fill in the blanks.

Until you can define what thrive is, I'd say pick a sport any sport. Montana at the FBS level can thrive in any of them.

In effect thrive means to prosper, Griz can still do that even in football at the FBS level. Since the goal in FBS is to make a bowl game, then explain for me why that is not feasible? Also if you ignore men's basketball we can slap you all the way back to Pauley Pavlion, UCLA...one game you use as an example? Too funny. Truly one of the dumbest posts I've seen here in a long time.

And btw there is no FBS level in other sports....hahaha

Thank you for your kind words. I hope Butte is treating you well. You missed my point.

There are certainly two levels of college basketball, as well, and because our society wants to give everyone a ribbon, we call even the worst basketball conference "an FBS school." You may have heard the term "BCS conference team" repeated a number of times during the tournament. And here's why.

There are two types of basketball conferences - those that get more than one team in the tourney and those that do not. The Big Sky is definitely a "not." This is why when Weber State or Northern Colorado wins the conference tournament, the Griz do not have the pleasure of dancing in the real tournament. In conferences across the nation this is not so, even for non-BCS conferences.

So, if the Griz lose the conference tourney this year and find themselves wondering which OOC wins will get them in as an at-large, will it be Colorado State? Will it be San Francisco? Will it be South Dakota State? BYU? Or will it be none of the above, because this top-notch, elite and nationally known school lost to all four, some by significant margins?

So, I'll repeat:

1)

2)

Go . . .

You're giving Everett way too much credit. She can't even count that high.

So, if a team doesn't win the Big Sky tourney, then they probably don't deserve to dance. End of discussion. I really have no issue with that at all.

You're ignoring one completely relevant "fact". GrizNation is not only thriving across the United States, but also the planet Earth and the Milky Way galaxy. Millions, if not bazillions of Griz fans would travel to witness their beloved Griz win such a bowl game. Even if the game were held in Dallas, Jerry Jones would need to add an additional three levels of seating to Cowboy stadium to accommodate the multitude of maroon clad fans.

Carry on and have a nice day. :coffee:

I don't know if the Griz would get bazillions of fans there, due to the holidays, but other than that, totally agree gbb1...

Great article in the LA Times today that points out potential losses of millions in going to a bowl game..

ESPN has designed the bowl games as TV events anymore. They aren't designed for fans to go to. Weeknights over the holidays for example. Put the games on weekends and decent times and you see bigger crowds. Bowl attendance is not what ESPN is after and it shows

Many teams pay More to go The their entire Conf. Gets in kickback. Which means a school might pay 750,000....the Conf gets 600,000.....the schools gets 1/10 of that. Sounds like a bad deal to watch rutgers play Central Florida.

Face it Montana is to small of a state pop. Wise. In the most ignored part of the usa. With bad weather, nothing in it's Towns. Only AA high school sports, no money and not close to the fan base other universities. have. You can pretend but were not a big dog and were not able to be one. You all have little man syndrome. You want to be the big, strong, athletic teams but we are not! Grow up and realize where we belong.....right where we are!

Stop it. We are emotionally fragile and you are hurting our feelings you bastard. I am now packing my car and driving to Warm Springs for therapy and good drugs. You just tore my whole world apart with your post. I don't even live in a town with AA sports. Now I really feel sh77tty.
