“I’m a high school film junkie,” said Green, a former Griz and NFL player who also serves as running backs coach for UM. “I can watch on my phone at the airport, when I’m walking around, when I’m in my room ...

“That’s part of the reason we’re able to get someone like Marq Rogers, a kid from Indiana who sent his film in and he’s a 6-foot-4 receiver that no one was on for whatever reason. We were able to evaluate him, bring him in on a visit with his mom. I think we’re going to have a really good receiver for his redshirt freshman year next year, all because we opened up an email.”

“We will feel the effects of our 2013 class this year,” Green offered.

“I really think our last two classes have been the most athletic at skill positions that we’ve ever had. So it’s going to be great to see the guys that were redshirt freshmen last year and the guys who redshirted last year have an opportunity to take some of these spots that are open.”

“The big schools, all of a sudden they lose the guy they had, now they’re scrambling to get a player,” Green said of the battle waged against FBS programs. “Often we lose players here and there the last month to a week to a mid-major because they lost a guy they’re no longer going to get.

“It’s a tough business and it’s all the way up to signing day. We’re trying to make sure someone like New Mexico or New Mexico State or another small (FBS) school doesn’t say, ‘Hey, now you’re the greatest thing since sliced bread. I want you to de-commit and come to us.’”

“It [winning Cat-Griz] definitely has a little bit of an edge to it,” Green said. “And the opportunity of it is I would imagine Montana State had all their recruits that were in-state at that game (in November).

“If there was any wavering, very often you’re looking at the opportunity of whoever wins that game will be where you want to go. That’s a big deal winning it and who they think will win more consistently. But that’s also not the end-all.”

Excellent article by Speltz and UM is extremely lucky to have Coach Green.

We gained Nick Ellison (6'7 245 OL) pretty late. He seems most likely to have originally committed to UM seeing as he is from Moscow, Idaho.

Does the "New Mexico" reference explain the Brewer deal?
