App St missed a 32 yd FG to win in regulation. App St is 1-5, with a win over Campbell. Moving up must be alot of fun. Ha. Liberty is 4-3. Georgia So. is 4-2 and beating Idaho today.

A lot of App State fans are not too happy with their coaching, since letting Moore go.

It must be the move up...because they were fucking awesome last year in FCS...
Couldn't just be that they have a shitty team...

Yeah, I bet they hate having all that extra money infused into their athletic department.

Which is more than offset by the additional costs.

Fire the successful but aging coach. Move up to a crappy conference. Lose to FCS team. Lose to almost everyone. Wow, yippee. Look at us. We're mighty App St (and too big for our britches).

Georgia Southern doesn't seem to have this problem.. maybe it's just that AppSt is a really bad team right now.

Yup. They are just a bad team right now. Since they got rid of Moore they haven't been the same. They were 4-8 last year in the FCS so it's not like they all of a sudden started sucking once they had to play an FBS schedule.

Georgia Southern on the other hand is about to go to 5-2 with their only 2 losses being a 1 point loss @NC State (ACC) and a 4 point loss @Georgia Tech (Currently ranked #22).

at some time during the lifespan of egriz, someone from app state made fun of greenie. and we rejoice!

Yeah Liberty! Glad they won this game in OT against Appy State after the double OT game loss last week against the Richmond Spiders. Liberty Kicks a 60 yarder with 2 seconds on the clock to send it to OT last week. Do the Grizzlies still play a game at Liberty next season?

App state has gotta be wishing they never left the FCS

Losing a year for transfers is huge to these lower-tier FBS schools. It's awfully hard to get kids to transfer when they lose a year of eligibility and still can't shake the "drop down" moniker.

I don't think moving to FBS suddenly made App State a bad team.
App lost Jerry Moore, sure, but the year before that they lost some of their best assistants to one of the Carolina FCS schools.

App State had a rough road ahead regardless.

I feel bad for App State, although I think they brought it upon themselves. Some long-time fans said that literally as the administration was insisting they move up. Firing Moore, moving to the Sun Belt (yuk!), leaving FBS at a time when their team was sort of waning -- all contributed to the situation today. Their years of great success now look like they were a lo-o-ng time ago. And, to be honest, I think App State's move-up mirrors what would happen to Montana.... Time will tell how it all works out for the folks in Boone. I will always wish them the very best.

Keeping current, Liberty University has announced their intention of going FBS coincidental with increasing the seating capacity of Williams Stadium to 30,000 - and the FCS becomes one more good program poorer... ;)

LIberty may want to move up, but they don't have a conference. Even the Sun Belt doesn't want them, at least at this time. Sun Belt doesn't think they would add anything to the conference. The 40,000 seat expansion isn't even in the planning stages.

"Buoyed by rumblings earlier this year that the Sun Belt Conference would consider adding a 12th football member, Barber and Falwell Jr. made lobbying trips to seven schools and explained why they were ready to make the transition.

But at the league's spring meetings, the Sun Belt voted against adding another school until at least 2015. According to a person with direct knowledge of the Sun Belt's expansion plans, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the dialogue was supposed to be private, there wasn't much support for inviting Liberty this time around.

"They have a lot of resources, but does anybody even know they're Division I?" the person said. "If we're going to add a 12th, we want someone people are going to recognize and raise the profile of the conference. I just don't think Liberty adds anything to our profile."

That decision has, at least for the moment, left Liberty in a difficult position."
