Kind of cool that App St. is hosting Miami this weekend.

That is cool. Good for App State. Miami fans that travel won't be disappointed. If UM had the will to be FBS similar events would happen. There are many Pac12 schools that would be willing to come to Missoula.
Couple that info with the financial gain Missoula receive for home game day weekends and that number would increase more to being a positive for the community.
Also keep in mind there may one business owner and fan of a traveling school come into Missoula and they see a potential market and they expand there business. Would that be common, no but it could and that business may be large enough to make a major difference for Missoula.
I grew up in Montana and moved in my late 20's. I did not recognize my potential until I moved. I thought I am just some guy from rural western Montana what can I really achieve. I think I felt that way because of how guarded we Montanans are and that in some respects limits what we believe we have to offer and achieve and those risks to succeed are not taken. I am aware now as a 40+ year old man I could have done the same in Montana.
I hope UM and Missoula can see and believe what they have to offer. Take those chances and risks and see the rewards.

You're FORTY!!! You're a MAN!!!!

Sorry, Inspector; I couldn't resist. Otherwise I agree with the point of your post. And yes, it's damn cool that App is hosting Miami. And I hope they win by 23,149.

On Sportscenter last night, they said that this is the 2nd most expensive ticket in the nation this week, behind OSU/Oklahoma.

I kind of doubt that. Even if we were in the FBS there would be an expected payout that we probably couldn't meet, additionally it would probably be a 2:1 in their favor for hosting, if not heavier. I wonder how many times a Pac12 team has played at an MWC school in the last 5 years... I'd guess it's just a handful, but I'd have to look into it.

I suspect we could likely get Wazzu and OSU after we had established ourselves. But I agree it would probably be a 2 for 1 type of deal.

It sounded like Miami had another game is set up, but the team backed out kind of last-second leaving the hurricanes in a pinch. App State was A team that had a common open date and they were able to make it happen. So, I think it was more of a fluke rather than the norm.

That said, I am curious what big-time out of conference opponents have traveled to places like Laramie Wyoming, Moscow Idaho, or pullman Washington in the past four or five years.

That said, it's funny to think about the boys from South Beach entering the backwoods of Boone North Carolina.

Not sure how this works ... but the announcers claimed there might be 35,000 people watching. Since the official stadium capacity is just over 24 thousand, the rest must be the people watching from the hills around the stadium. Pretty amazing. Too bad ... Miami scored first.

Mostly they stand on the track. They were well over capacity many times (including their game against us) while they were FCS, and often led the nation in attendance even though their stadium seats fewer than WaGriz because they count SRO.

Ouch. Not looking good for Appie.

Glad there's plenty of other football on. Probably won't be looking in on this one too much ... unless ASU mounts a comeback.

Wyoming had Texas come to Laramie a couple of years back. Part of a 2-1 I believe

USU just signed a home and home with Washington State, first game in Logan. I have heard we are in talks with a couple other Pac12 Schools and Utah isn't one of them.
