In the bottom of the 8th, with the announcers saying that the incumbent OK St. pitcher was the best Cowboy of the day in that he hadn't been scored on yet, when Louisville got a Salami to make the score 20-2.

The only thing that could have been asked at the time of the GS (with 1 out) was whether or not they would complete the third TD. Given baseball's rule of not completing the 9th when the home team is up, it's not going to happen now that the top of the 9th has started.

Frank Anderson led OSU to 42 wins in 2007.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oklahoma State fell short of advancing to the College World Series as Louisville defeated the Cowboys, 20-2, Sunday in the final game of the Louisville Super Regional at Jim Patterson Stadium.

OSU was seeking its 20th trip to the College World Series, but its season ended with the Cowboys sporting a 42-21 record. The 42 wins is the most ever for OSU in four seasons under head coach Frank Anderson.

Louisville improved to 46-22 and advanced to the CWS for the first time in school history. The Cardinals racked up 21 hits against eight different OSU pitchers Sunday and scored in each of the game’s first five innings.

The Cardinals jumped on OSU starter Joe Kent early and often, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning before rallying for five runs in the second frame. The big blow in the second inning came on a two-run home run by Pete Rodriguez, who finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs in the game.

OSU scored its lone runs on a pair of home runs. Ty Wright hit his eighth round tripper of the season in the third to make the score 6-1, and Rebel Ridling’s 14th homer of the season came in the fourth and also trimmed the Cowboys’ deficit to five.

But UL scored five runs in the fourth inning and four in the fifth frame to take control of the game. The Cardinals also had a four-run inning in the eighth.

Isaiah Howes led Louisville with six RBIs, while Jorge Castillo drove in four runs. Reliever Skylar Meade picked up the win with 1.2 innings of work.

Kent lasted just one inning, allowing three runs on three hits to finish the season with a 4-3 mark.

Wright was 2-for-4 in the contest and finished the season hitting .405 to become the first Cowboy to hit .400 since Carlos Gautreaux in 2000.

Ridling had three of OSU’s seven hits in the game, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate.

Joe Kent is from Billings. Played for the Royals. Too bad he couldn't deliver today, great kid.
