It is not hard to believe when you remember Brett Swanson (who runs Juco Junction) only ranks the players he sees. It would be difficult to justify ranking a player who you have not seen. Johnson is from Yakima Valley JC which plays in the NWAACC conference which is a includes all of the JC's Oregon and Washington. The NWAACC consists of roughly 32 schools, and is a league among itself. They do not play in the National Junior college tournament because they are not members, and when they finish the league championship they are done. Typically the better schools are the ones near Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland, on a good year one of these good schools will maybe have 1-2 D-1 prospects, but they do feed the local D-2 and NAIA schools quite a few athletes. For the other schools like Yakima (where Johnson is from) or Peninsula College (where MSU's Mbunga's is from) it is a big deal when they do have a player sign with a D-1 school. Now compare this to Salt Lake City College were Banny came from last year put 5 players in D-1 programs last year and will do so again this year. Some schools in Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma will put 7 or more athletes in D-1. Very few college programs recruit the NWAACC and I would bet that 50% of the college coaches even know it exists. I would bet you could have Micheal Jordon playing in a small community in the NWAACC and he would not make onto Jucojunction's top 200, but UM, MSU, Hawaii, Weber, Washington, Eastern Washington, Idaho and the like would.
