Sisseton, Wahpetons, Yanktonais, or Teton Hunkpapa? I'm assuming the is ranch by Culbertson?? Cause there sure isn't anything on the other side of the REZ.

And guys till this moment I never made the connection. PR is indeed a man of color Closer to pink than red)........... By virtue of his rather famous father.........

I have somewhere a picture of the four sioux tribal elders including PR's Grandfather Bussie in front of my grandffathers drug store in Medicine Lake about 1912, I think his dad was born around 1916. Each of the elders carved my grandfather who served more or less as the Rez doctor a cane (he had polio as a kid) I have one of them. hope this isn't too much information. Wow , what a small world.

Lets all agree on a few things here.

1. The guy was in the wrong, no matter if he was high or drunk, to call Cherry the N word and to "jump" him as Cherry was walking away. I believe calling Cherry the N word and go after him is an example of racism. Guy might have regretted what he did the next day but he showed his true colors that night.

2. Cherry was in the wrong for not listening to police and telling them to F off. It doesn't matter if he was in the heat of the moment. You need to listen to the police. He probably wouldn't of gotten arrested if he would've just sat down and he definately wouldn't of been tazed.

3. Cherry is not a "thug". A few weeks ago we were praising him and talking about his pro chances. One incident doesn't change what he has done for the University of Montana.

4. eGriz is fun.

Boom. You won.

I have often thought that the two of you were somehow related... in a Steinbeck East of Eden kind of way.

Just think... if that white, stoned 34-yr old would've yelled "Hey! Person of color!" Cherry would've simply walked away and this thread might not even exist.

But all "people of color" have a free pass to call white guys "crackers, red-necks, or honkies", and we are supposed to just accept it. But don't DARE to called them a sh*t-skin, darkie, or the N-word, or the entire politically correct nation will go down on you faster than PR at a Griz team shower. The double standard in this country is nauseating. When are you white people going to wake up, and stop accepting this bullsh_t as being right? If it is racist to call a black person the n-word, then it is also racist for black people to call whites some of the names I stated above. Yet black comedians make millions exploiting that double standard, and white people pay money to sit and listen to 'em, while they laugh their ass off. How many white comedians have you ever heard use the N-word? Uh, I think we all know the answer to that one.

Finally, there are black girls competing, and winning, the Miss America pageant. How many white girls have you seen competing in the Miss Black USA pageant? And, predict how many hours of air time the mainstream media would grant if someone decided to start a "White Miss USA" pageant? Double standard once again, and you PC morons sit there and actually support it! Simply f_cking amazing!

I beg and plead you to go up to all of the people of color that you claim to know and ask them how they feel about being called a "person of color". Get back to me with the results. This ought to be good.

I am a person of color. I know how the term is used and perceived in the past decade or so. Can you not even read the Wiki quote I provided? Here, I will summarize for you:

"People of color was introduced as a preferable replacement to both non-white and minority...."

"Style guides for writing from American Heritage, the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Mount Holyoke College, RECOMMEND THE TERM over these alternatives."
You are not a person of color.

You are white but you want people to believe you are not for some reason. Probably because you hate whites.

Many of us have experienced racism....German, Greek, Italian, Irish, African American,Native American. My family is German and people threw rocks at my grandfather's house during WW2. My wife is Greek and she has stories of similar discrimination. I don't believe any ethnic group has experienced racism to the extent of African Americans as I think it must be very difficult for them from being very young to their last days. Most of us don't have any understanding of the problems of African Americans because the color of their skin is black.

Sure, but those things really aren't unfair to most white people, just the very stupidest of white people. So I can understand why you are complaining.

I love Burr too. But notice how he conveniently uses Asians as his foil? He could have used Mexicans too, cause Asians and Mexicans are open game for ethnic jokes. Just not blacks, that is a big no no. Blacks are off limits. You know I am right.

I am quite sure you and your buddy Jizz Whiz feel really good about yourself. You voted for Obama, watch Jay Z videos, hug trees, joined Green Peace, oppose global warming, drive your hybrid, and hate anyone who has been successful in their lives. Keep living in your idealistic little world of self-denial.

Sweet thread, griz fans.

My original post on this thread hinted this thread would derail. Threads like this always do.

It is educational though. What out of state Montanans living out of state want to go raise some hell? Don't worry about getting in trouble for it. We can in a metropolitan night club. We can raise hell there, be part of a fight. When the cops to come break it up, we can tell them to F.O. It is okay, they will understand we grew up in another culture and cannot relate to how we were raised.

What part of that is right? It is true they may not understand our upbringing and life growing up because they did not experience it. What part of that is wrong? It is not okay to disrespect a cop, or any authority figure by telling them to F.O. Had that not been said, and if Will just respected the request of the police, he likely would not have found himself in any kind of legal hot water.

In an effort to get this train back on track, I have to admit the locals in Missoula do tend to make it very uncomfortable for GRIZ athletes in the bars there. There are the fans and students buying these guys drinks left and right to hang with them, or show appreciation by buying them drinks. Then there are the locals who drink too much and get liquid courage. The ones cannot help but start crap with the 1st GRIZ athlete they see, because they want to show them they are not all that, or whatever.

Sounds like that is what Will ran into . If that guy did fire racial slurs and attack Will, he is damn lucky he did not end up in the hospital. I doubt Will got in trouble for being part of any fight, and even if he had done some damage to the guy, he likely would not be in trouble. He is in trouble for error in judgement, with the foul language to police.

In the late 90's and early 2000's I played cards and hung out at a few bars with a few GRIZ. I heard both black and white player comment on how difficult it was for them to comfortably hang out in local bars. The majority of time they went out they would always run into locals trying to start shit. They told me they had to walk away from shit almost every time they went out. A handful of them preferred just hang out in small groups at local homes playing cards and casually drinking. The small get together's were the only place they could keep from trouble finding them.

So the original point of PR's post does have a lot of merit, regardless of ethnic background. I do agree, Missoula does have a problem with a few too many locals wanting to start crap with these guys.

After looking looking at various newspaper articles and the linked affidavit related to the Cherry charges, and thinking about this subject, I will offer some observations and contrary views...

9. If the Missoulian is looking for something to cover other than arrests and citations related to UM athlete fights, loud parties and dui's, perhaps they could look into the significant prejudice and racism that occurs in Missoula, often directed at blacks and native americans. The gang bang and sexual assault thing sure hasn't worked out for the Missoulian. Zero gang bangs. They're lucky that Donaldson bailed them out. Otherwise they would have had zero involving athletes, from what seems to be public and out there.

Gotta say, this sticks in my craw. Really? The Missoulian was bailed out by Donaldson raping someone? I'm sure when they were reporting on the Donaldson rape they were looking for a scapegoat. What the fuck is wrong with you? :coffee:
