Nope, no, not ever. That's simply how it is for me. I don't tell other people who to root for, and I expect them not to tell me either.GGNez said:I totally get that. And I appreciate the historic, traditional beauty of a good rivalry and the tribal nature of it. We are simply living in the one moment that is an exception for me: only one Montana team is playing in the post season. By default, all fans from Montana are supposed to support them. Not during regular season (ever), not if we are both in the play-offs. But now. Just now.Hammer said:mtgriz said:It's a rivalry. I root against the Cats because they are the rival of the Griz. It's just that simple.
To me that is what a rivalry is. It's more symbolic than personal. It's tribal, not relational.
Bingo!
 68, you do whatever feels right for you. I see that it appears I was telling others who to root for but that wasn't my intention. Just explaining my personal "rules" for the rivalry. One of my favorite things about it is that passionate fans have their own rules and superstitions to follow. Be true to yours.'68griz said:Nope, no, not ever. That's simply how it is for me. hating Idaho State - because their athletic program is too freakin' pathetic to generate much more than contempt, if it's noticed at all. (In Boise there's disdain for both ISU and UI) With MSU it seems like the hate meter has risen proportionately to their ability to actually become a challenger to UM supremacy in the state...the country cousins have actually earned the right to be "hated."... Congrats
See, there you go again being a total D-bag. The Griz have laughed at and ridiculed the Cats for a solid 2 decades before they became relevant. They weren't respectable. But attitudes like this is why the Hate-meter rises so quickly. I'm sure it is reciprocal, as well. To claim a Griz fan doesn't care about what's going in Bozeman, good or bad, is ridiculous. They damn well care about it, and I know Bobcat success makes many a d-bag Griz fan enraged, much like Silvertip.
Everyone always hates the best team. The Griz have held that role for almost 20 years. I am sorry to inform you that it is over. Congrats.

Really? It's now been 11 years since we won our last championship. Meanwhile, App State has 3 and NDSU will have their second in a few weeks.

Bazinga!
I know the owner of the bar well. It's located right across the street from the MSU fieldhouse. If I owned the bar, I'd do the same thing - draw in a crowd of like minded, thirsty fans to sell to. Who cares?
Viewers on this site take some things way too personally. Lighten up. Good Gawd, it's a game.....

Really? You do know viewers on bcn are acting exactly the same way because a former player for the Griz tweeted his thoughts on the cats giving away free tickets.
Pot meet kettle.
Glass house.

BDizzy, don't have a shizzy-hizzy!
A D-Bag is a D-Bag, regardless of which site he posts on. BCN has as many misguided, ignorant, hateful CAT posters as Egriz has griz posters.
My pot stacks nicely with my kettle, in my shatterproof glass house.
