I read this quote from Stitt in a Thursday Missoulian article that further questions my confidence in him:
"We've got to be perfect on defense," Stitt said, pointing to some rare letdowns against the Wildcats. "Against a team like Weber State that can not throw the ball, we've got to be able to shut those guys out. They were very one-dimensional and we couldn't stop the run."
While it's true the defense had some pretty significant lapses, it's also without question that the defense played well enough to win the game. The failures were on the offensive side of the ball, which directly lead to the loss (pick 6 and the fumble in overtime). Given that, I can't imagine picking on the defense.
