Andy Thompson New Sac State HC

Most of you Griz fans would trade Andy for Bobby in a heartbeat

I don't think Andy Thompson, at this point in his career, is a head coach the Griz would want. Knowing a little bit about the Thompson family coaching tree, I think he has tremendous potential and will be an excellent head coach for somebody, eventually. Not sure if he's a world beater his first time out, but he has a great base to start with at Sacramento. He has the connections to recruit Oregon and Washington better than the Big Sky schools in those states, or Montana and Idaho.

No I absolutely would not. I’m gonna take a proven commodity in Bobby (one mediocre season doesn’t define a career), over a 1st time head coach who did not have a very good defense this season and appears to have a bit of a re-build on his hands with the deflections to graduation and the portal.

...really has Bobby 2.0 been a proven commodity in the last (5) years?.....I guess Stitt was too
for that matter...there are a lot of younger coaches in the FCS that have been doing well...I would
think Andy will too...

Hoops...it must kill you to have to watch Andy out-coach Bobby EVERY year that he has been at Sac State. But I bet you're getting used to it by now.

It’s not hard to out coach Kris Brown

Please leave Kris alone. He is a great kid, and is 100% a Montana Grizzly. How would you like it if he was your kid and fans were slamming him all over the message board? You don't have to approve of his performance, but stay classy about slamming him.

Bobby and his his coaches, with a couple of exceptions, are dinosaurs, trying to use 20-year old coaching philosophies in today's college football world. The truth is, he has been getting out-coached routinely since he returned to UM, by much younger, and more inventive coaches. Don't expect anything different next year.

I literally don’t think that’s anywhere near as bad as a lot of the other things that have been said about him. I did not insult him in any form and in fact I want to see him succeed, but it just won’t be at UM. I think he could do exceptionally well at the NAIA level and I think any of the Frontier schools would be happy to have him!

I am not as enamored with Andy as it seems many, so I wouldn't. This is not an endorsement for Bobby either, just that I think there would be better options than Andy.

I wasn't suggesting that Andy was absolutely the best fit for the job...just pointing out that many/most Griz fans would trade him for Bobby. And other than the fact that he's an alum I can't imagine why he would ever want to leave his current situation to coach there. Just saying.

I think you are severely overestimating.

So you know many/most Griz fans to be speaking so certainly for them?

I only know a handful...it just seemed like a completely obvious statement/prediction. Looks like I'm off by you and three others but in all fairness I didn't say everyone.

Not a chance he would see the field as QB at Carroll.

Agreed 100%. Kid would tear up the Frontier League and there’s nothing wrong with that. Just like there’s nothing wrong with guys like Walker, MayGinnes, Forbes, Ford, Cotton, Childs, etc., etc., dropping down to get meaningful playing time at a level that suits their talent and skill set. The flip side is, if he wants to be a Griz that bad (and that’s awesome if he does), then PT maybe doesn’t mean that much to him which is fine too…Lots of guys spent 4-5 years in a program and never make a meaningful impact on the field.

You're dreaming. He would struggle to see the filed as a QB with the exception of MSU Northern. The QB @ Western was a better version of Mellott.

Hoops kind of has a point here. Re-building from what? The Griz finished in 6th place. It'll just be a typical Bobyy Hauck coaching performance.

I am sorry, after reading my post to you, it came off a little harsh. I have just have read so many posters slamming this kid on here. I have just heard that Kris is a great kid, and great teammate. While his performances have not be good, he is still 100% Grizzly.
