The 12 is a little high, but its not that ridiculous.
Air Force and Bradley really are the only 13's that you would have a strong argument for. The rest have similar resumes as Montana, and fortunately for Montana, they were the only team out west in that bunch of teams.
To try and say that Xavier and Pacific should be higher than Montana is just wrong. Look at their respective schedules and records, Andy. Now tell me that its unbelievable that Montana is above them.
Arguing that they are on the same line as Texas A&M, Kent State and Utah State doesn't matter. If the next best team was 180 in the RPI, then that's who they would have to put there. I would argue that Montana could split games with all of these teams though. I don't think its that far fetched to say that Montana could have won the MAC, finished 2nd in the WAC and 4th in the Big 12 this year.
You could argue that all the teams from Creighton (40) to Xavier (80) in the RPI are on pretty much the same level and probably have the same talent and shot to win a game in the 1st round.
Overall, I'm suprised the committee put Montana as a 12 seed, but its more reasonable than many of the other things they did this year. Utah State, Air Force, GW as an 8, George Mason in but not Hofstra, etc. The list goes on and on. To start bitching about seeding is like bending over a $20 bill to pick up a nickel.
