Thanks for four years of support
Upon completion of my four years as a Grizzly basketball player, I wanted to take the time to publicly express my appreciation and gratitude to all the fans and supporters in Missoula and what an unforgettable experience they have made it.

When I visited the town and campus for the first time prior to my commitment, one of the first things that stood out to me was how involved the community was with athletics at the University of Montana. Missoula felt to be a close-knit, friendly community with exactly the “home away from home” feeling I was looking for. And now, four years later, it has been just that, a home.

It is the great fans and great people who constantly surrounded me that made playing basketball for the University of Montana such a special experience. Win or lose, no matter the circumstances, the fans and community consistently supported the program and believed in us as a team. It was nice to know that when we took the court in Dahlberg Arena we had the same screaming fans behind us for 40 minutes, night in and night out. In my four years spent here, I never once received anything but positive feedback and encouragement from the fans, residents and staff members at the university. All of these people have collectively contributed to the betterment of me as a student, a basketball player and most importantly, as a person.

Thank you all for all you have done. I am proud to say that no matter where I end up, I know the community of Missoula and the University of Montana will always be No. 1.

Andrew Strait, Missoula

A great letter to Griz fans, from a Griz player who was a class act both on & off the court.

I saw that this morning. Great Job Andrew!!! It was a pleasure to have watched you. I wish you the best of luck as you move into whatever career you have chosen.

i'll aways have an indelible picture in my mind of seeing andrew play as a freshman at stanford. this was a kid with no fear, who took it right to the hoop against bigger more experienced players, and made his shots.

he'll also be remembered for one of the great individual performances in montana basketball history, against nevada and nick fazekas. krysko had a hunch we had a secret weapon, and andrew didn't let him--or us--down.
