Am I the only one?

Correct, but Riley is an employee of Learfeild, and approved by the University.
Riley and Rainey are both solid in my opinion. I don't think coaches or reporters really like the press conferences. They both fulfill their obligations. The off season would be a bitch to come up with interesting material. The transfer portal has at least added some in that regard.

Agree completely

Oops, meant Riley. Got my R's mixed up.

I agree, I posted last year that I thought he should move on. He seemed way more excited about the cats run to the chipper than Montanas. Maybe I’m wrong just don’t like the guy’s tweets.

I think some coaches despise press conferences in general , especially with inexperienced reporters. Bobby certainly fits that category as did Nick Saben. Meanwhile , some understand that embracing it provides an excellent opportunity to sell their program and their university. Jeff Coate comes to mind and I wouldn’t be surprised if Waded C made it mandatory to do so. I’m as big of Griz fan and Hauck supporter as any but I am truly disappointed by how Bobby handles the media. It’s a very bad look for the program and for the university and quite frankly I’m perplexed why President Bonner allows it. Bodner is desperately trying to increase enrollment and has the face of the university torpedoing his efforts.

Offseason info like an offensive coordinator pleading guilty to DUI...a case that lingered for enough months to let the season run...

There is news for those with just a tiny bit of intellectual curiosity.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Riley just get married before the start of this past football season? I'm sure getting married and always being on the road takes a toll on a new marriage. I'm sure his wife knew what she was getting into, but to actually be away from one another all the time in the beginning of a new marriage is tough. After year 5 of marriage is when being away from one another is something to look forward to. Haha, just kidding. But getting married and then we also don't know what else he might be dealing with in his personal life. Personally, I think he does a great job. I actually wish it could be him and Morty doing the commentary on TV instead of Riley on radio and Morty on TV .

I very well could be wrong, but I believe Riley is employed by the Grizzly Radio Network which is part of the Grizzly Sports Properties and Montana Department of Athletics who has a partnership deal with Learfield IMG. Learfield IMG owns the multimedia rights, not Riley himself or the Grizzly Radio Network it sells. Here’s a breakdown of how that partnership works based on what came to light in 2021 when Nebraska ended their partnership. However, because they have the media rights the actual game broadcasts or the inside the den podcast are property of Learfield IMG. This is why Riley had to request permission to repost the audio of the brawl and the playoff games last year to Spotify and other streaming sources.

Also if you have information regarding the specifics of the structure otherwise over the last couple of years please let me know, so I can better understand what has or hasn’t changed. I know Townsquare was part of the local model as well.

Regardless I think we could agree on the original point that Riley has a rooting interest as “The Voice of the Griz” versus Rainey who is paid to be a neutral local sports reporter.

I agree with Rainier...Rainey started out fully covering the Bobcats and it looked really hard for him (forced) to be on the sidelines at Wa-Griz. He is a Bobcat fan. He tries to be neutral, but that is impossible to check. I don't hardly blame him, as a Griz fan, I probably won't step foot in the litter box!

Bobby only likes media members that are loyal to him. Any questions that delve into sticky issues or question a perceived inadequacy are met with resistance or sarcasm. So it’s not surprising that a media member would be turned off by that. However, I think Rainey is being very professional about it. Riley is on the UM (state media) payroll so he’s not a good comparison.
This warms my heart.
I love it how BH lives rent free in your guys’ heads. He must be doing something right.

BTW:

Riley > Rainey > Gwen >>>> Colter
