Altitude announces Big Sky Sunday basketball schedule

OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Altitude Sports & Entertainment has announced the schedule for its Big Sky Conference Sunday afternoon men's basketball coverage.

All nine league teams will appear in the package at least once, with games originating from six conference sites.

"It was important to us to make sure all of our teams gained exposure through our Sunday Game of the Week," said Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton. "This schedule achieves that goal. There are some great matchups in our package."

The package will begin on Dec. 30 when Northern Colorado meets Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, Ariz. The final regular-season game will be Sunday, Feb. 24, between Montana and Idaho State from Pocatello, Idaho.

Games will begin at 2 p.m. Mountain, with the exception of a Jan. 13 showdown between Portland State and Idaho State, which will begin at 1 p.m. Mountain.

Montana, Northern Arizona and Idaho State each appear three times, while Montana State, Portland State and Sacramento State appear once.
The network also plans to carry one of the Big Sky Conference semifinals live on March 11 and will televise the women's basketball championship live on March 15.

This is bogus. I'm not going to begrudge TV time to the Griz; they're the class of the conference. But the rest? NAU and ISU don't deserve the extra game at the expense of Sac and PSU. Heck, if anyone should have gotten an extra game, it's Weber; they're right up there with UM in recent history. Even MSU, with the best player in the conference in Erik Rush, ought to have more games.

Why didn't they just schedule it evenly?

SH,

You need to brush up recent history. NAU has been one of the better programs in recent years. How you can say SAC deserves more than one game is a stretch, even for a Hornet Fan. Jenkins will be fired this season, mark my words.

I just mention Sac in the interest of making things even. In the interest of "earning" the spot, no, Sac hasn't done that lately. Looked like it was coming, but last year was a HUGE step in the wrong direction. My biggest point, though, was that Weber is one small notch below UM right now, and I don't think NAU is quite up there yet. Weber still has that Heel win in their cap; NAU hasn't pulled anything like that yet.

So, if it's going to be even, all the 3-game teams lose one, and those games go to the 1-game teams. If it's going to be per recent performance, then UM gets 4, Weber gets 3, and ISU gets the complete shaft.

It isn't about being fair, it is about who people want to watch. Altitude isn't interested in a venue like that carcker box Sac has. They are lucky to get one game to be honest. Jenkins had a mass exodus of coaches this season (wonder why) and they just announced their 6' 9" returning big man has flunked out.

As for Weber, you make a pretty good case, so dump ISU and replace them with Weber, then you have UM. NAU, and Weber getting 3 games, and the also rans getting a token.

Agreed, GB.

Though, to tell the truth, I wasn't factoring in where the games were. I'd be frankly embarrassed if Altitude or anyone else took cameras into that grade-school calibre POS we have. I was figuring that any extra games going Sac's way would be on the road, whether they be in-conference or OOC games.

That said, I'd like to skip Altitude altogether and get UM @ UOP on ESPN. There's a bigger audience there, and it would be a compelling game. The last week or so is the first I've ever had Altitude, and that's only because I just got a dish. No cable company I've ever done business with has ever had it.
