I saw a USA today college basketball preview (in the airport in LA) and it showed Alphonso Anderson as the conference newcomer of the year.

It had the Griz picked for fourth with Weber first and (I forget the order) North Dakota and Idaho second and third.

Idaho will be tough all starters return, WSU same story different year always good, Und is an unknown to me.
Montana may be a year away and the lack of depth in the front court will cause the "experts" to pause before picking the Griz.
One thing this years team will have going for it come Conference time is they will be battle tested.
If I had to pick I would say griz will be third going into the BSC tourney. All bets are off once they get to Reno.

Sad to say, it seems the Griz are always "just a year away".Maybe this coaching staff can actually make it happen but we will see....I thought last year would be a "break out" year only to be disappointed at San Jose, Pepperdine, Milwaukee............

I think you need to reevaluate your expectations.

Agreed. I feel WAY more confident in this being a "break out" season than I did at this point last year. I think Breunig's talent/presence fooled some people into thinking the same as GrizLA. This squad is built for what Travis wants to do, whereas as last year TDC was still taking advantage of the pieces he inherited. Our backcourt talent is pretty unprecedented in the Big Sky. I think that 3/4 place coaches' poll is going to be looking pretty silly by the conference slate.

I am not one to lower them, sorry.Lower expectations have kept UM from gaining a spot in the top tier of college basketball, too often.

Sounds like a personal problem.

Actually agree with you, LA. Should never lower our expectations.

This group is going to do some special things I'm sure of that. So be it this year, next year or the following I'm just going to enjoy the process.

I agree 100% with you, MtTarheel. I saw about half of yesterday's scrimmage and am both excited at this team's development and still observing/learning how coach DeCuire's signature will be applied to the style of basketball he learned from Stu Morrill, Blaine Taylor and Mike Montgomery and is now putting his own stamp on. "Enjoy the process" is the best way to approach it because there's no doubt that this team and program will be forcefully answering some of the "questions" expressed in the posts above!

I'm pretty certain we'll enjoy the ride!
