Alphonso Anderson chooses.....

TWO 3-star recruit commitments for Travis DeCuire & the GRIZZ!

Congratulations Mr Anderson! Welcome to Griz Country. You're going to be an important member of an awesome team!

Welcome to GRIZ NATION Alphonso Anderson and family. Decuire is killing it with recruiting. This makes 2 3 star recruits for this upcoming class. That is unprecedented in GRIZ basketball history. GRIZ are going to make some waves nationally the next few years.

Big time get for coach Decuire and company! This kid is going to be a beast for us, very exciting time to be a Griz bball fan! Congrats and thank you to Decuire, his staff, and to Mr. Anderson on his decision. Buckle up its going to be a very interesting/exciting couple years!

Decuire spoke at a booster function that I attended about a month ago. He mentioned he was in the final two for a forward recruit out of the northwest that would elevate our team. Congrats to him on the big catch, he indeed got his man!!

I completely agree that Alphonso will help raise our profile. I would argue though that our profile was raised the day we hired coach DeCuire. Every subsequent recruit just nails that home. He immediately upped the level of recruit we were involved with. His ties in the Seattle area as well as California have paid huge dividends. All the more impressive considering he followed Tinkle who recruited Washington and California very well.

I have been following recruiting sites and what not for 15 years now. The difference in information available and national knowledge of the guys we're recruiting now is much different than it was under Tinkle and he did pretty darn good for himself. Thoroughly impressed with the job DeCuire and his staff have done early on here. Keep up the good work! Go Griz!

While I was at the Griz scrimmage last Saturday, I noticed several young men (four, I think) in attendance with their fathers.... seemed obvious to me they were young recruits, perhaps class of 2017-18. One of the kids was flat-out bored, but the others -- and all the fathers -- obviously enjoyed the scrimmage. Montana coaches don't waste time on promising prospects, as some of their early offers to players as young as h.s. frosh. That's an extensive network.

Congratulations on your choice, Alphonso! Welcome to GRIZ Nation. Prepare to win Championships!!!!

I had a nice conversation with Alphonso's mom at MSO while waiting to fly home after the NDSU game. They had been in Missoula that week for his official visit, and his Mom could not stop gushing about all things UM, so I wasn't surprised by his decision, but I'm still extremely pleased!!

Here's the link to Kyle Sample's story on Alphonso in tomorrow's Missoulian.
