All Conf Picks - lots of Griz

One more thing. I think JLM deserves more recognition as a receiver. He is the all time leader Griz receiver. He started 4 years. For the most part, he has had good hands. He's great after he catches the ball. He's tough as nails. He's fiery and exciting to watch. I know he didn't have great stats this season, but he played with 2 of the top receivers in the conference and make a lot of nice catches and big plays.

He's an all-conference receiver in my book.

I was actually just talking about JLM with some friends. He's the all time leading Griz receiver in a long line of great UM receivers. What's his legacy? Where does he rank in all-time griz receivers? Top 10?

That's a tough call. I'm very glad we've had JLM on this squad but placing him on the list is tough, I would say he has to be in the top 10 conversation but not towards the top. So many of those receptions were back in the Stitt days when he was using Jerry as an extension of the running game for lack of a better analogy, those 10 swing passes for 70 yards add up in a hurry. Plus a lot of his value is as a returner, which has been fantastic, but not really considered WR stats.

Not dissing anything he has done before anybody tries to spin that as negative, but I personally would put him a click behind the big dogs we've had.

I’m not sure why they would punish Sneed for getting hurt but not do the same to Kevin Thompson. Those two were neck and neck for offensive player of the year. Sneed got three player of the week honors in a row and now you’re telling me he’s an honorable mention QB because he was hurt a couple games that’s just dumb

Find me a more broken system year in and year out than the Big Sky Conf picking their all-conference teams. You can't.

Of course I can. Here are just a few:

— bsc scheduling
— bsc officiating.
— bsc use of replay
— any decision by bsc leadership.

I am mostly fine with the Griz picks, except Sneed.

I think Sneed and Barriere were 1 and 1A at QB this year, yet EB is 3rd team and Sneed is left off...head scratcher....

I think Cookus received the “you’ve been playing at NAU for 10 years” bump...

While this may be true, getting hurt and missing games is ALWAYS going to hurt your standing. Honestly, looking strictly at the #'s, Sneed was never going to do better than 3rd team. Barriere's #'s were better, Thomson's #'s were signficantly better (even with missing games) and even Cookus's numbers were better. Sneed was 4th in the conference in YPG, 4th in passing efficiency, 4th in total offense. That pretty much makes him HM from an all-conference standpoint. Now, Thomson wasn't one of those guys above him, but he also had 25 TD's and only 8 INT's, and they won the conference autobid….hard to say if that played a part in the decision.

Hell, Sneed was probably HURT by Knight's proficiency in finding the end zone.

In a group text involving other people who work in conjunction with the league, I posed the question: what does the Big Sky do that is just lights out?

The only positive response was, "The Big Sky kickoff used to be in Sun Valley..."

Colter you going off on this is pure gold. You literally voiced every single one of my feelings on this thing with some fire, which I really appreciated. I literally wish I was in the room with you and Tootell talking about this!

Diesel, Mallory was the best Olineman for the Griz, but the votes honored the seniors more and I can at least understand the reasoning on that one. He shouldn't be left off next year though!

What did he say?

That Sneed got absolutely ripped off and deserves a second team behind the Sac State quarterback.

That Sammy is the best receiver in the big sky and got ripped off too

That Cotton from Idaho was also ripped off as he’s one of the best in the conference

That Sterk from the cats was the best defensive end in the league no doubt about it and also got ripped off

He was pretty fired up about it which made it worth the listen because it’s exactly how I felt the other day

So why isn’t he 2nd team?
