Alfonzo Soriano...

Trade Adrian Beltre and Joel Pinata (probably have to throw a AAA guy and some cash as well) for Alfonso. Then DFA Crazy Carl, bring up Snelling & Morse, and your best bet at SP.

Then go like this;

Either have Lopez @ 2nd, Soriano in LF, and Ibanez @ DH, Morse on 3rd.

-or-

Have Lopez on 3rd, Soriano at 2nd, and Ibanez in LF then DH Perez or Snelling, or Morse.

Batting order goes;

1. Ichiro
2. Lopez
3. Soriano
4. Ibanez
5. Sexson
6. Snelling/Perez
7. Joh
8. Morse
9. YuBet

Heres my reason why the Ms dont need Soriano.

He will be a rent-a-player only. He is going to go somewhere next season where he can play 2B, and Seattle is not that place.

The M's would have to give up alot to get him, decreasing an already weak minor league system.

I dont think he would make that big of a difference, the M's need more than a big bat to win the division.

In the long run, it would only turn into a very bad decision and should cost Bavasi his job if he pulls it off.

Max, no way the Nats take on the kind of salary committments you're talking about with Beltre. And besides, I wouldn't give up on him yet, especially if the best replacement available is Morse. AB's bat is coming along, and his defense at third can't be overlooked.

Personally, I think Soriano is a complete "Me First" kind of player, who cares more about what he does than what the team does. He could help the M's down the stretch, and I think they should make the deal, but only if they don't have to give up top-flight talent. I'd still rather see them get Torri Hunter.

Oh yeah, call it wishful thinking. Honestly I don't think they should even go after Soriano. If they continue to play uninspired baseball, they'll be out of the race in about 2 - 3 weeks. I say maybe look at dealing some middle relief, possibly Ibanez or Sexson to stock up for next year.

All but three of Soriano's extra base hits in RFK this year have been to left field. Safeco eats hitters like that alive.

I personally think that the only team talking about the M's having interest in Soriano are the Nats. I think they want to scare Arte Moreno into opening up his big fat wallet in Anaheim.

i keep hearing Anaheim now. Soriono is great but is not a good fit for Detroit. He strikes out a ton but the numbers he gives would be worth it for the Angels, or M's.

I do not care about A. S. I just hope they do not deal Meche & Washburn is washed up in Seattle! The M's need more quality starting pitching!
