Albuquerque

I got to town around 7:30 tonight. Did some sight seeing. The drive from Pueblo, CO to Santa Fe, is absolutely boring, until one gets about 30 miles north of Santa Fe, then it is real scenic. Albuquerque is pretty cool too. The 1st place I drove by was "The Pit". We drove around it, even from the outside looking in was one of the coolest sights I have ever seen. I cannot wait for game time.

I have a feeling I will be suggesting any true sports fan, or college basketball fan to add attending a game at "The Pit" on their bucket list. Food and drink is pretty affordable here, and locals are very nice.
I ate dinner at "Coaches". Pretty nice place, with good atmosphere, but they are not very generous with what you get for your money. Which is so opposite of what I have heard about Albuquerque restaurants.
The food was good though, the waitresses were cute, so that was a plus.

I doubt we will be at "Coaches" again. We did run into a few Weber State fans sporting their gear, and of course New Mexico fans, all of them wish the GRIZ luck, and told me they want to see the GRIZ upset Wisconsin. Speaking of Wisconsin, the highlight of my drive was being flipped off by a Badger fan, when he seen me wearing GRIZ gear. Passed a few Montana, Wisconsin, and Colorado vehicles, seen quite a bit of Baylor gear represented tonight. Did not see one GRIZ fan, other than my brother, but the waitresses at Coaches commented about a dozen GRIZ fans were there earlier, and last night too. They had good things to say about our fans, and the bartender joked, do we need get a few kegs tapped for you 2 tonight? I commented back, "Are you implying GRIZ fans like to drink?" She told me that was understatement. I guess I got here one night too late. :thumb:

Cheer loud Grizrule! I was at the Nevada game & it was an absolute blast seeing the Nevada fans in shock at how good the Griz were. Hopefully Wiscy fans feel the same pain tomorrow!

We were there for that one too. Most Nevada fans were pretty cordial after the game though.

It took me forever in a day to fall to sleep here. I am too excited for the game. Apparently, high altitude is good for sleeping though, I slept as well as I have in years. Noon cannot get here soon enough, even with a beautiful day, this day is dragging for me.

Here is to hoping I will be reporting on a GRIZ win tonight, or whenever it might be. I do hope to find where to meet up with other GRIZ fans though.

I will be the "LOUDEST AND PROUDEST" GRIZ fan today. GO GRIZ!!!!!

I have confidence you will represent my man. Cherry and Jamar need some big time noise. This has been a great year. I just love this team.
Go Griz.
Fack Wiscy.

It's another beautiful day in Albuquerque. Must have been in low 70's and sunny yesterday upon arrival. Team hotel is being shared with UNLV. Lots of UNLV and Griz gear this morning. Team appeared to be about ready to depart from hotel a bit ago. Most people, but not the team, ate at a good Mexican restaurant last night. The UM dancers were looking damn good. I hope the Griz have a good showing today. No early fouls on big guys or Cherry. This team seems to have an unusually high will to win. I think they'll give Wisconsin a good run, and hopefully come out with a victory. Go Griz!

Go Griz... just got off the phone with my buddy from Phoenix, he's at The Pit right now watching the teams arrive. Lots of Griz fans wearing Griz gear in attendance

WOW, what a great atmosphere for the evening games. It was absolutely crazy and insane at the Thursday night games, especially the UNLV/COLORADO game.

Both programs had their fans do them proud, and CU fans were there in full force, and turned "The Pit" into South Boulder. With the GRIZ out of the tournament, my brother, and I had to find a team to get 100% behind. We were fortunate enough to sit right smack in the middle of some UNLV and some Buff fans. Right when we sat down, a few Buff fans seen our GRIZ gear, consoled us, and told us Buff Nation would adopt us for their ride. We proudly accepted, and were rooting for CU from the get go.

CU fans were an absolute blast to be part of. Granted, I live in Colorado, but never did take the time to be part of any the programs there, other than just attending occasional games. Well, hate to admit it now, but I will actually be rooting for CU in basketball, behind the GRIZ, from now on. I may even take in some CU games starting next season.

Surprisingly enough, I am looking forward to Saturday's games. We will be pulling for Wisconsin, and Colorado. Both fan bases were classy, and CU's fun too. We met a few Baylor fans, and to be honest, the majority of them were just a little too arrogant for my liking. We joined in with SDSU fans in the 2nd half of their game. Speaking of SDSU, I wish they were in the Big Sky.

CU/Baylor will be an interesting game. CU is way more disciplined, and smarter. Baylor has freakish athletic. I was more impressed with CU as team though. CU by 5, is my pick.

Vanderbilt/Wisconsin is a tough game to pick. Wisconsin's defense again carries them.
Badgers 63-Vandy 61.

GO CU!!!!!

I forgot to mention this from Albuquerque. Saturday, when we were heading into "The Pit" for the games, still in our GRIZ gear, we heard several comments similar to "To bad the GRIZ lost, we were wanting to see your cheerleaders again." "Now that you lost, can we borrow your cheer team?" "The GRIZ cheerleaders were by far the hottest there." "Are there a lot of women that look like your cheerleaders?"

I am not joking, our cheerleaders made quite an impression on males on other fan bases. In honor of our cheer team. They made SI.

Even with a knee brace. :thumb:

The fans from Albuquerque and the people of Albuqueque were very nice and hospitable. Many nice comments were made to us. They were very helpful. They were happy we were in their town and in their arena. When we were drinking beer in the parking lot, just in an open area where there was a place to put the 12-pack, some guy tailgating nearby with his wife, walked over and invited us to his truck. He has a BBQ, and made us some pork chops rolled in tortillas. Very tasty. Nice couple.
