Being, posts regarding Akem tend to get buried in other posts, let's discuss Akem.
To me, it's obvious, this offense is hampering his production this year. We very seldom get creative with play calls, designed to free him up. However, some of this goes on him. It's been mentioned, he doesn't seem to be aggressive contesting well covered attempts. He's also dropped more passes that in the past he hauled in. He's not back to the ball or establishing very good position on the passes needing either or both.
Physically, he's a match-up nightmare for CBS. He just seems to have lost most his passion. Then again, thanks to Covid he's here an extra year. He's a terrific student, terrific person and very committed to his schooling. Has that all added up to burn out?
With everything happening this season, with his talent, he should be the central focus of this offense. He should be a fiery leader. Neither appears to be the case.
My hope is, this offense figures out how to utilize him fully. He gets a fire
lit under his ass. The GRIZ need him to be the Akem of old.
