Montana provides New Mexico with bulletin-board materialMarch, 17, 2010 SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The underdog isn't normally the one doing the talking, but Montana star Anthony Johnson did make this comment in a video on the team's Web site.

"We feel strongly about what we can do," he said. "We're happy about being a 14 seed. I'm glad we don't have to play one of these huge, Big East teams. My heart was kind of pumping a little bit for that."

Asked about the comment today, Johnson said he wasn't trying to disrespect No. 3-seeded New Mexico from the Mountain West Conference in saying that, but added, "I don't think we should look past them, and I don't think they should look past us."

New Mexico guard Dairese Gary was not amused by the implication that the Lobos would be any easier of a match-up for Montana than a Big East team.

"You have to pay attention to stuff like that, that's a slap in the face," he said. "I mean, a Big East school, they're good, a lot of good teams in there. But we have a good record. We've been proving all year that we can beat good teams.

"So we're thinking about it. I'm sure he didn't mean anything about it, but at the same time, that's the kind of momentum to stay focused and go out and play hard."

I'm sure New Mexico wouldn't like to play a Big East school either.. Most of their fans are really hoping for the Washington upset, what does that tell you?

New Mexico has little man syndrome, so sensitive!

I think it's probably more of a case of ESPN trying to stir something up. I didn't think there was anything wrong with the comments, and I'm not sure UNM got too fired up about it either.

ESPN loves to find anything that can be interpreted as disrespect and ask the opposing team about it.

Yea, I agree. When you see that two of the other 3 seeds are Pitt and G-Town, UNM looks better. That doesn't mean that they are not a very good team but you can't tell me that any team would rather play those two over UNM.

Little man syndrome? This is the grizzly pot calling the kettle black, is it not?

If anyone out there knows a first year at UM Law that went to Gonzaga, please make his life a living hell.

You would think a troll would try to keep himself a least a little more anonymous, but no. 1886Cat is too stupid for that.

well 1986cat, you have to admit that you are a stupid fu(k.

Jeezus, what is this world coming to when djollienuts makes more sense than another evil?

Yes some people get pretty defensive when any team thinks they will come into Wa-Griz and win. You don't hear Griz players saying it is a slap in the face though.

I'm glad his comments irritate New Mexico. I think the more New Mexico thinks they need to focus on AJ and shut him down the better it will be for us.
