Got a kick out of his explanation of the plane with BSU colors: His mouth went off more or less on its own and painted him into a corner. :lol:

As the AD he must obviously be concerned with all UI sports (particularly with Title IX watching over his shoulder). In that context, this was a very interesting quote
“You’ve got to be successful in football because that is the driver of everything. How you are in football, that generates the perception of your overall athletic program.” Spear says. “We just need to get it back to where we were in ’09, and I think we will with Paul.”

Got to meet him a couple years ago in Butte. I was an umpire for the State AA Legion tourney, he was our guest speaker at the banquet. Great speaker.

Rob is a great guy. Intelligent, passionate about sports, creative and has done an exemplary job at Idaho as AD. Any athletic department, do I need to mention one, would be well served with him at the reins.
He is no stranger to student athlete problems for Idaho has had its share. But one thing he does and did have is a University President who supports the athletic department and understands its importance.
