AA Girls Championship Game

Question.

I know they schedule the girls game after the boys game to try and get some fans in the stands. That is the only way to get anyone to attend that game of organized keep away.

Is it more demeaning to the girls to just not have anyone show up to watch them like they are used to?

Or is it worse to have them watch 8500 fans leave while their championship game is about to start?

What say you?

They do the opposite in Washington. In the 3A state finals last night, the girls played at 7:30 and the boys played at 9:30. I sat on my rear and watched the games on TV and it looked like they had a good crowd for the girls game, but the stands were definitely more packed for the boys game.

The girls game was much better. Chief Sealth, a team with 3 players headed to the PAC-10 and unbeaten except for a national tournament in CA or Vegas, got beat by a smaller, but more hustling team, Auburn Riverside. The boys game was a blowout.

when I was in High School (in Washington) most of the Girls games were right before the guys game during the regular season as well.

Somebody told me they are alternating the boys and girls championship games, so next year the girls will go first. Makes absolutely no sense to me. The Metra completely emptied out as the girls were warming up. Kinda sad for them.
