I really liked this column by Bill Speltz on Colin Dow, and his comment that this season is
That pretty much sums up how I feel. Griz are really down, and it is probably a good thing I didn't have access to the internet yesterday or I would have said some pretty dumb things, but in reflection I think Dow is right on. Some people want to blame Delaney and the coaching staff, and yes they deserve some blame. Some want to blame Engstrom, and yes he made changes, but maybe they need to be made. Some blame Pflugrad, but maybe he was a symptom instead of the disease. One thing is clear to me, though, is that nothing last forever, and I feel (but don't have specific concrete examples) that maybe things were not quite right for a while. Just a little off kilter. Maybe it was me, but this quote really struck me as accurate.
a couple other quotes from the column:
For myself, I don't plan to follow bowling. I do feel like the program needed some redemption, and though I don't know what depths this program will reach, or long it will last, I plan to be there for the bad times and the resurgence. I was a (mostly heartbroken) fan when they played at the "New" Dalhberg, and I will be a fan through this, and when the blip in the road is over, I will still be there.
Thanks Bill for writing this column, and thanks Colin for being a Griz. Go Griz.

a way to “purification.”

a couple other quotes from the column:
I suppose you could interpret this anyway you want, but to me the important thing is who he doesn't blame - Florio, Engstrom or the NCAA.“I’m just real bummed that a few people made questionable decisions and that has shaken the faith in Griz Nation and the fans that surround it,” he said of Montana’s rough stretch leading up to the 2012 season.
“Every once in a while a program has to remember what losing feels like. If you win all the time fans get spoiled and fickle.”
“Those that really love us, that love football and what we know we stand for, are going to stick around,” he offered. “Those that went to games because we kept putting up W’s, maybe they’ll follow bowling or something from now on.”
