A tribute to a great player

I submitted a letter to the editor of the Kaiman, and it appears that it was not quite up to par to be printed in the school newspaper, but I'll give it a go on here and see if it gets some legs.

After this season I came up with the idea of giving #12 from this point on to a walk on player. Considering it is very unlikely they are going to retire Criswell's number, I believe this is a fitting tribute to a player that really gave the program everything he had. It keeps #12 in circulation which keeps his story alive. I have no idea how I would go about getting this done, but I need to see if there is any support first.

So what say you Griz nation? Does this have potential, or am I just whizzing in the wind? P.S. if you would like to read my awesome letter to the stinking editor of the stinking Kaiman I would be more than happy to send it to you. Actually I am probably too lazy to send it, but trust me...it was gooood!

I like this tribute as well. It goes along the lines of #37 in football. Handed down to players in Montana (or in this case, just a walk on), it would recognize players who might not usually be recognized.
The reason that your letter might not be published is that I think the Kaiman is done printing issues for the year. You might try sending your letter to the athletic department, or more directly, coach K himself.

I sent it in before they were finished, it just didn't get printed. I'll probably send something to coach Krystoviak (sp?) but I don't know what else I can do. I wanted some student support on this, but who knows. Lets see how this thread does first.

I need more information.

If the walkon gets #12 next year, and makes the team in the second year, then we wait for 3 or 4 more years to give #12 to a walkon?

Or would this be for a Montana kid only?

And only for the first year?

I like the idea and haven't thought through this like you guys have.

Two Comments:

First, absolutely, that would be neat to give kids who walk on and work hard as Criswell did such a designation.

Second, I hope to God the Griz continue giving Montana kids with potential a shot at a walk on opportunity!

I was just thinking a walk on...I don't know maybe you could give it to a Montana walk on, but I think that is up to the team. I am willing to settle.
