A new Viking

as a vikes fan it's always cool to see a guy you know make the squad. he'll have a hard time making the final roster but i'll be rooting him on all the way.

Looking at their depth chart, I see only one FB (Kleinsasser). What makes you think that?

well we brought him in a running back who could also play fullback. we rarely even list guys on our roster as fb's because we don't utilize them. kleinsasser won't be there so technically we don't have a single fb on our team. we do have four guys on our roster that have played rb, and 2 guys who have played fullback not counting kleinsasser. i also suspect we'll draft another back.

as it stands now we have peterson and gerhart as running backs. we also have two backups named king and toddman. we have two guys with fb experience in dimperio and asiata that should battle for that spot. add in lex and another guy i'm sure we'll bring in and that will be 7-8 dudes vying for 3....possibly 4 spots.

i like lex better as a fullback too, and think that's his best chance to make the team. but the vikings press release specifically says they brought him in for competition at rb....but can also play fb.

bottom line is that none of this really matters. unless he just blows peoples minds at either of the back positions, which isn't likely.....it's gonna have to be special teams where he makes noise. if he can excel in this area, he has a chance to come in and make the final roster but it won't be easy.

Agreed wholeheartedly. It's really what's gotten him to stick this long.

honestly i think he could do it too. he's a stud on special teams which we need. and dimperio and asiata have not impressed me in their minimal action. if lex shows the ability to block really well, get short yardage when carrying the ball, and turning heads on special teams he'll be a vike. obviously i'd prefer an msu on the squad but i always like to see dudes from the state succeed.
