Very true. Careful, though, or you'll attract one of their three fans to try to tell you it isn't true even though it's very common knowledge.

Three fans is one EWU fan for every grizzz win against the Eags in the last 10 match ups! (I know, I know CDA, 27-17-1...)

Hey, enough about the boring stuff like losing a football game to one of the worst teams in America. Why don't you guys focus on the important stuff like how #LoudandCold the NEZ is and Monte winning the Capital One Mascot challenge??

Right on Cue

Yep. Apparently you can get eGriz notifications on a Boost Mobile burner phone after all. Who knew?

That sad, pathetic performance was as dispiriting as any Grizzly game I've ever watched. None the less, I remain optimistic. I know this team can play well. Hopefully they can shake it off.

That was the proverbial "Bad game". Not just for a season but for the century. Never was expecting a championship season this year but I am still expecting a winning one. Go Griz!

If your handle indicates you were around in 1982, how about the years before that? I attended from 77 - 82. We had many "bad games" during that time period. Remember Larry Donovan and the "Team of the 80's"? This game was tough to watch, but they didn't give up and came close to coming back for the win. If 2 plays turned out different, we would be 6 - 0 and delirious about our team. Let's not lose our minds over how historic this loss was.
So you are not really upset about a loss (any loss) to a team that was 1-16 again the FCS? Umm, okay. Fact is, the game should have been a blow-out victory if the Griz are half the team many think they are. As we discovered, many would be wrong (including me). I unfortunately now believe the Griz season effectively ends against UND and we will be relegated to the historic Bobcat fan tactic of believing it was a good season if we beat our in-state rival -- final record and playoffs not a real concern. Man, can't wait for the Brawl of the Wild!

Hey give me some cred. I'm on my uncle's Walmart Family Mobile plan. This thread came up on my "Montana gets shellacked by FCS middling" Google Alert, which is usually good for one or two results a year.

Was that in this century?

CDA, yes I meant the current century.
We've now got the "bad game" out of the way. Thank God. Should now be good until 2100.

MikeyGriz, yes I was there at that time. Coach Donovan fielded some awful Grizzly teams despite having several gifted athletes. Though Coach Carlson was even worse at taking talented players and molding them into a very poor team. I remember the student section cheering "Goodbye Gene" happily during his final game since we were finally getting rid of him.

None the less, to both of you... That 1st half this last Saturday was possibly as terrible as any Montana game I've attended. The only slight positive was the defense kept it 13 to 0 rather than 28-0. I may need to go in for electro shock therapy to erase it from my mind. :ugeek:

I knew what you meant. Just trying to explain it to Mikey.
Agree with your last para.

I'm not happy with the loss. I think we should have won this game easily. But I don't think this was a historic loss. I also thought the team was on the upward projection, but the last 3 or 4 seasons have taught me to not slash my wrists over one loss (not saying you indicated anything this hysterical).

If you want to look at games this century, I would propose 2002 against MSU, 2007 against Wofford or 2013 against Coastal Carolina as being more disappointing games for me personally. All games I felt we should have won.

Or for that matter, how about the last 2 Griz/Cat games?

Losses in three rivalry games and losses to two playoff teams were worse losses? It's not "most disappointing" it's worst.

I thought the measuring metric was most dispiriting.

You're right. I just read the second part about the proverbial "Bad Game" which I believe this was.

Look, the only good thing about Cornplaster stadium is no one checked you for booze on the way in, so by the second quarter you didn't care about the score. Well maybe two. Those awful Weber State cheerleaders didn't look so bad by game's end.

 As a little kid, I sometimes went under the bleachers at Cornplaster to look for loose change. You had to be extra vigilant when those empty Old Crow whiskey bottles fell from the seats above you.

Reality - look at EWU. Why is that program on a continual trajectory of winning and making deep playoff runs? The trenches and until BH gets players recruited who get it done up front - there will be more of the same. Simple really and Griz fans better get accustomed to mediocre seasons until that changes. Defense and Dline are fine. Hauck will get it turned around, but it is going to take some time. Hopefully there are some drop down linemen who sign next year. Something needs to change quickly.
