A little more light reading. in the Summer of 1957, ex Eagle coach Jerry Williams made it possible for a young flathead Indian Kid to Attend the University of Montana on a Football scholarship. Also Tom Hauck was part of our team. Two other Missoula Spartans we given full rides under Coach Williams, coach Niemi, and Coach Fred Naumetz. Cool that a Montana Athlete has accomplished what Tim Hauck has .

A few years ago my daughter was Admissions Director at an assisted living home in Phoenix where Jerry was a patient. One day in his room she commented on his Super Bowl ring. In the conversation that followed as he found out she was from Montana, he sat up in bed and sang "Up With Montana". He said the most enjoyable years of his coaching career were in Missoula.

My dad took a picture of Jerry William's single engine plane after it made an emergency hard landing on I-90 somewhere close to the summit of Lookout Pass. I knew where the photo was up until my last move. Don't recall if he was the only passenger or if any injuries were reported.
