A good sign

I think it is a good sign for our program that Egriz is still, most likely, the most active FCS football fan forum in the nation. Despite the downturn of the program over the last 12-13 years we still have a lot of interest and passion in the fan base as well as the foe base. Does Egriz represent the average fan? No, but it is proportional almost certainly. The more fans overall, the more fans have enough interest to follow Egriz. We have a lot of posters from other programs who post with some regularity. I doubt any other FCS program has that level of gravity. Who is searching (I am not going to offend any lesser known programs so insert your own choice here) fan forum for football discussion and attracting both detractors and enthusiasts? Yes there are turds that post here regularly but they still represent that there is a stronger than average interest in the program. The site can be pretty toxic at times but overall the fact that there is this much interest (negative and positive) shows that behind our current lull in success there is still interest/support waiting to see what the future holds for our program. Our program is an important piece of the FCS landscape. I obviously hope we regain our prior prominence. I think we will but who knows? It is good to know there are a lot of other people that although they may not share the same hope of our success at least there will be alot of people following along. Keep posting.

For those that lurk but don’t ever post, come on join the conversation it almost certainly would improve the dialog.

Some claim there’s less than 100 active posters here…so I’m not sure your statement is valid…lol

Unfortunately, a few too many disrespectful idiots, many better posters were ran off, or seldom post.

A few others used to share info here. Not now though.

Maybe only 100 active posters but there are a lot more followers. I guess my point is the program is bigger than our current success or lack there of over the past decade’ish. It was built over decades of ups and downs and 20 years of sustained success that really got us to where we are. Montanans have embraced the program and we fortunately have a passionate fan base centered in a Missoula community that really supports it. Bozeman has been building theirs and are in a pretty good place right now as well. They also benefit from Montanans embracing FCS football. All these out of staters moving to Montana hopefully know they have to pick a side or get out😁. Egriz is a an indicator of the interest in the program. If you see this forum dwindling I would say it is indicator of apathy overall toward UM Football. Apathy is worse than enmity.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think posters get “run off”. If they do, then they are of weak constitution…many choose to stop posting for multiple reasons…there are two other football message boards that I have over 40,000 posts on, but no long post on either…

This place has been my connection to Missoula and the Griz ever since I moved away. Y'all are absolutely unhinged, insane, brutally honest, and insightful. I'm just happy to contribute to the chaos.

Also it is funny to hear a family member say "well someone on eGriz predicted..." and then wonder if they're about to cite a hot take I posted while not sober last saturday

I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re right.
But yeah the level of toxicity on this site, and how every snowflake armchair guru has to take offense at any perceived slight, turns way too many threads into little prick waving dick fights. There’s enough of that in the world that I stopped posting with regularity years ago. Now I drop in to give thumbs up and occasionally leave a comment, but nothing super active like 20yrs ago.
Still, gotta give Chris props for starting and sticking with the idea! It’s tremendous to have this as a resource to check in on, even if I have to wade through the detritus to find good perspectives on things.
Go Griz!
