A good article on moving up or staying put

Did anyone else notice that Montana wasn't mentioned anywhere in the article, or did I miss it somewhere? We talk all the time about our winning ways, but what we need is to win a couple more championships on the field. Nobody remembers who lost the championship, but they forget the rest of the teams a lot sooner. :geek:

We need to win more championships before we move up? How many did Boise win? How many has Liberty won? How many did UConn win? Or UMass? Or (fillintheblankwithanyoftheteamswhovemovedupnotnamedGaSouthernorAppState)?

Montana is positioned to move up because they sell more season tickets than most non-BCS schools, and more than some BCS programs.

Tickets are actually one of the reasons that it would be more difficult to move up. UM has already almost maximized its season tickets, attendance, and ticket prices. UM is not in position to get much more money out of season tickets, attendance or ticket prices. Thus, tickets are not a source of significant additional revenue, as they are at many other schools that move up.

Who here can name the first round playoff games last year. It only going to get better with the top 24 teams getting in now a quarter of the FCS teams are going to be in the playoffs. Maybe the NCAA basketball tournament can start letting the top 100 teams in. The FCS is a joke from most of the teams. Wow are next big rival could b Minot St. or Western Oregon. And we will still pay 30 to 60 a ticket for shitty ass games. I lov my Griz with all my heart. If I didn't I wouldn't watch a single game. But if we don't start getting better games at home shit will hit the fan sooner or later. The younger generation dont give to shits about Minot St

Somebody please tell Plodding Griz Man that the WAC was dismissed as a football league months ago -... (and that leather helmets are no longer in fashion)... I no longer respond directly to lame posters who can't keep up...

The wise one speaks ( as he swears-off responding to lame posters who can't keep up).

Wise 'ole Tip strongly pushes for UM to move to the WAC, then gets sensitive when his poor judgement is reintroduced. So, if UM had listened to wise 'ole Tip the Griz would be a FBS independent now and playing something like 8 road games and three home games.

We could play Idaho 8 times a season, 4 home/4 away!
Or Pan Handle State and if successful, get Bethune-Cookman in the playoffs.

“If the best among you are dissatisfied, is anyone asking why? Is it a matter of what they’re reaching for, or is it a matter of what they’re running away from?

“I tend to think it’s what they’re running away from.”

This was the view of the new AD at Delaware, a former I-A guy:

“When you get back to that equation of what are you “moving up” to, you have to really look at what you’re moving up to,” said Ziady, hired as Delaware AD in November after a long stint at ACC member Boston College. “We’re not [receiving] offers from the ACC or the Big Ten. Everybody’s emailing me about what Georgia Southern and Appalachian State are doing. That’s not moving up. It’s a designation that signifies you’re moving up but you’re not moving up.’’

Your consistently flawed argument that the WAC would be in the SAME position now had Montana/MSU moved to it to play football holds no water. It's just as likely that the WAC would have survived and thrived had Montana and MSU decided differently. But, whatever fits your reality, I suppose.

What fits my reality ???
The reality is that the WAC ceased playing football, and there is no argument about that AZ !!

Come on dude, prove your hypothesis !!!
Please share exactly how the WAC would have THRIVED if only it had two additional members named
Montana and Montana State. Lets hear your flawed reasoning based on what-ifs.
