Basically, a million people watched a University of Montana Grizzly Football Game.

A Million People watched a University of Montana Grizzly Football Game!!

Plus the 65,000 that will claim they were there...

Precisely why I kept my ticket stubs. To PROVE I was there!

Is this just actual TV viewers on ESPN? I know a lot of people don't watch this stuff on actual cable anymore.

Neilsen stats sampling. Set box gets turned on, stats get ramping, blah, blah, blah. Hardly more than a best guess, dressed up to please the advertising client into spending more. Give or take the margin of error, a 1M plus. An excellent number, given the dearth of actual advertising preceding. Not sure the number of folks in attendance will ever reach the number that were @ Wilts 100 point night, but what the heck, we have time...

Ewu game was like 1.2 or something

Per the gogriz.com article posted this evening:

The preseason ESPN broadcast averaged a respectable 0.7 household rating and 981,000 viewers according to ESPN, outperforming last year's FCS kickoff game between Eastern Washington and Sam Houston State, which drew a 0.5 rating.

The high school game before, and the arena game after both drew less than half that, so I would guess ESPN is very happy with the numbers. Also how many watched in bars where its not included in that estimate? One TV, 20 viewers around the country.....that probably adds up to another half million easily.

More people watched the GRIZ than people that watched the New York Yankees, that played at the same time.
