That is a kid that can be groomed with playing time immediately if he has the ability. Chances are he's probably a little slow in his pass blocking off the ball. Size comes first for some then coordination comes second.

There's highlights here. One vid is a combine and the one below it is game footage.

Watching the film the kid has a pretty good motor, but his footwork needs some work. The thing that i saw that i did like is that he used his wing span to push the DE out of the pass rush route. Once his foot work catches up to his push to the outside of the pass rush route, THIS KID WILL BE AWESOME!!!!!

He reminds me a little bit of Leonard Davis. Like Davis, if the footwork does not improve, his best position maybe guard. Mark Schlereth was talking about this subject the other day on the radio. He mentioned often times the bigger guys with so so footwork are miscast into tackle. However, they make great guards, because footwork is not as a big part of the position. Guards take on less agile DT's more often than not. Meanwhile, Tackles with bad footwork, get beaten by speed and agility DE's. These kind of tackles are only effective against bullrushers.

I loved Schlereth's perspective on the line. I later spoke to a few of my friends/coworkers, one which played college football. He was recruited as an OT, but moved to Guard due to his footwork being inconsistent. He 100% agreed with Schlereth's thinking.

I wish this kid the best, and glad to have him here, but hope if the footwork does not come around, the coaches and him are willing to move him to Guard.

Rock solid, props to the staff for landing this guy. Looks like a Balogh-type of guy, one that has the size and abilities to start for 4 years.

Chandler, AZ... Isn't that where Cummings is from? I know they're two years apart, but I presume they probably knew each other, wonder if he was part of the recruiting effort.

Looks like Cummings went to a school in Scottsdale. Shalon Baker has been at Chandler the last few years, though. They've got another guy the Griz could use.

Alpha tells me you still waiting for the coordination part! :thumb:

Anyone know if this kid wrestled? I know 2 friends here at Concordia that are from Chandler.

Will be a guard, to SLOW for an OT, and this will be after 2-3 years. Many schools passed! Sorry to rain on your parade guys.

Right! and Obama's team are really happy with their results from last night, too! :thumb:

Did you take a dare from one of your buddies on  kittynation about posting on this board!
Nice job GOKATS

First glance of the couple video's of this young man:

Footwork, agility, strength will all improve - very raw talent, but has a lot of the basics to build on.

All the tools - not a 4 year starter IMO, immediately...but could play after a RS and for sure a 3 year starter.

Looks bigger than 285 to me...

5.7 forty??? I don't think so...but again, a couple years with a great OL coach and program, he will be a great one. Could be a OT or OG - I like that.

Great get!

It's a bummer this guy doesn't have a better 40 time. How else is he going to get separation from the DB when running those go routes?

Good to see the kid has some fight in him.

Chandler’s William Poehls and Red Mountain’s Garrhett Kidd hit the mat with everything on the line. The winner of the match would claim the overall title for his team.

Just halfway into the first period, Kidd looked to have the tournament won for the Mountain Lions as he had Poehls’ shoulder less than an inch away from the winning pin.

As the crowd chanted his name, Poehls hung strong with his back to the mat for nearly a full minute and turned the tides to even the score before the end of the period. With the momentum clearly on his side, Poehls took a commanding 10-5 lead and held on for a dramatic 13-9 decision that gave Chandler the title as the crowd erupted in jubilation.

“I was just thinking 'don’t get pinned. Don’t get pinned,’” a relieved Poehls said. “I just kept fighting.”

Thanks to Poehls, Chandler improved on last year’s third-place finish in the tourney and ended up with 195 points followed by Red Mountain’s 188.5 and Glendale Sandra Day O’Connor’s 179.
