6'7" 300 pound OT William Poehls verbals to UM

OK then, at what point does a lineman become "too tall" (if that is possible)? To me it might become hard to see/throw over him. He could lose leverage to a shorter DT/DE. He could be slow. He could have arms so long that it is tough to keep from holding (ok, that one is a bit of a stretch). So is there a point where a a lineman can become too tall, particularly for a specific kind of offense?

ya im not sure man i think greeg will help this kid and you have a good point with the height thing i think you can get to tall but thats not till like 6' 11" or 7' (good points tho)

Yeah 6'10'' would seem to be too tall. I don't think there are any 6'10'' tackles in the NFL, maybe one. Reduced lateral mobility, vulnerability to a strong bull rush, QB not being able to see over him (5'11'' Jordan Johnson? Ouch). I think we saw some of these things with Dyk. I think he was a good lineman in spite of his height. I think he would have been more effective if he were 6'6'' or so.

I think if you are built in the proportions of a gorilla and can run while using your knuckles, height is no problem.

Can't teach size.

Another monster lineman playing for the Griz is always a good thing.

If he gets too tall to play on the line, we can always use him at TE like we used Willie Walden and get automatic goal line TDs.

Or he could be a candidate to replace Qvale...

He's been a starter, and will probably be a team captain in the upcoming season. Last year he absolutely man-handled the big guys from the University of New Mexico.

Walden? Did he ever catch a ball for the Griz? I remember him dropping more balls than you can count on two hands and both feet, but I don't remember him ever catching any passes.

He had an outstanding catch for a TD in the '04 Championship game.

Yeah, Walden sucked and he never caught a ball. That's why he was invited to a NFL training camp.

You fu($ing idiot.

What was his stat line as a Grizzly? I think he was on the Kansas City Chiefs for a while, the practice team maybe. I don't think he ever played in a game. He was athletic big and fast enough but the guy had hands of stone. He only got a shot at the NFL because of his size. And calm down man. Such hostility.
