4-3

So, BEFORE the season started, I thought there was a very good chance the Griz would be 4-3 after 7 games. I just thought we'd get there a tad bit differently. I felt it was a better than even chance they lose the first three, then run off six straight before the EWU/MSU season enders.

Instead, they beat the King of the Hill in week 0, in the process establishing incredibly unrealistic expectations for their future success, then crapped the bed against Weber, dropping expectations to all-time lows. At the end of the day they're EXACTLY where I thought they'd be record-wise, and I'm feeling better than I have in weeks about their prospects moving forward--even WITH their supposed "third string" QB under center.

I think PSU is very beatable--they managed just 247 yards of offense against UND, and that includes scoring on a 76 yard pass play on their first play from scrimmage, the same team we just ran over like a runaway train; they barely got by CP, beating them because of four CP turnovers, but giving up 536 yards of offense in the process, and ISU is an absolute SHELL of the team we thought they were at the start of the season...we should be 6-3 going into the EWU game, with a hot QB, a dominating defense, and a confident offense.

The next 4 games should be fun!

I agree 100%. I think when the Griz show up, they can obviously play and beat anybody. When they don't, they can lose to anyone as well. This PSU game will be a big one. They are definitely beatable and the Griz should match up with them well. They are pretty well-balanced on both sides of the ball. That fact alone has me more worried about them than the offensive juggernauts and defensive debacles of both MSU and EWU.

Thanks Dennis Green. :thumb:

Both the CP and Weber losses really bite. I know I said I was over it but how friggin close were we to being 6-1? With that said the NDSU win was unexpected for certain and I guess in the big picture we are right where a lot of us thought we would be....still finding our "new" identity.

The first seven games of this Griz season have been among the most frustrating in recent memory. As AZ mentioned, the result of beating NDSU were unrealistic expectations for the rest of the season. Losing to Cal Poly, while expected by many, came down to a 50 yard field goal at the end; certainly a winnable game for the Griz. Then, losing to Weber State could have been avoided if not for some errors in executions as discussed on many egriz threads. Essentially, we are two plays and 4 points from being 6-1 right now...

I remember watching the Cats vs. PSU. Neither had a very good D so IF Simis can have a quality game for Montana I believe the Griz will win by 2 touchdowns. Montana has a D, those 2 teams did not.

The narrow losses, dicussed at length on this site, were evidently requisite before Stitt would make the necessary changes to HIS plan. To his credit, he made some changes, and night turned into day. Can this be sustained? Not impossible. At least this last month will not be dull.

Agreed about the frustration, but we're also a miracle TD drive away from being 3-4 and already completely out of contention.
