3 good things from today

Have to look deep to find out good reasons for playing a weak team, but here goes:

1) Our first string players didn't get hurt or wore out.

2) We may have found a new field goal kicker!

3) Brady Gus looked good throwing the ball (new backup QB?)

Mission accomplished..

I liked what I saw from Addison Owen, zack peevey, and Jesse ginn on D. Our team is in need of a backup QB though. TM was sick today which is why he didn't play. Honestly, SSH was awful. BG looked better. Other than his muffed punt, J. Nguyn looked pretty good. Our 3rd string o-line looks pretty light, but will add weight by next season. Overall pretty good play by the backups today.

I'm sorry, but I'm beginning to buy into the "SSH shouldn't be our backup QB" talk.

Dude was simply awful today against easily the worst team he's seen in his career.

I saw McKinney wasn't even dressed out.

I think they said McKinney was ill. I agree the #4 QB looked a darn sight better than the #2
QB who also has a ton more experience.

Yep. Said McKinney was sick so didn't even dress.

SSH missed seeing a lot of wide open receivers, was late delivering the ball, and had happy feet with defenders 2-3 yards away. A move to TE may be in order.

Why? So he can be buried behind a true Freshman? I think a move to the frontier conference might be in order.

+1... :egriz:

Jordan Harper continues the great Griz tradition of walk-ons who are impact players. He is very athletic, strong, blocks well, and can catch. This was a steal. I am guessing Ash wanted him.

He's a very good athlete and somebody we really needed. The 2 heralded freshmen TEs we picked up will be good but aren't quite caught up to the college game yet. Harper's got to be one of the most athletic TEs in the conference. There aren't many LBs who can cover him and he holds his own despite being undersized at the position. He creates a great mismatch for us and will be very good when he adds a little bit of weight.

SSH has had a lot of apologists on this board in the past. Funny how after yesterday, they are nowhere to be found.

I know ssh is a great kid who is very bright,,,he is also the coach's pet for some reason....however he should not be number 2 on the depth chart...he should not even be on the depth chart at all....i'm sure he will be a fine doctor...

The good news about our QBs is this:

Gus looked good.
McKinney is good and when he is back we will have 2 good back ups.
Forget ssh he can not play at the level we need! Nice kid though.

Maybe he's like Bob Dole who got nominated simply because he had been around so long, not because he was the most qualified. They just felt they owed it to him.
