PRO DAY info above.

Look how cool that pic will look when the weight room and locker room is in place.

Joshua Dennard

Matt Hermanson

Tonga Takai

Zack Wagenmann

Just saw that Trayvon Van had lower vertical and a higher bench rep than Waggenman's combine. I wouldn't have predicted either of those two results.

Van caught the ball well in the passing. Seemed to run nice routes. JJ seemed to throw fairly well. Takai looks fit. Wagenmann looks extremely fit, mobile and fairly big. 'Too bad Dennard pulled hamstring.

I am out of town today.

What is the weather like for pro day?

10-15 below? Snow?

How bad is the wind chill with the Hellgate winds?

It's super nice today. Sunny and no wind. 53 degrees now. When they were running, it was nice but still cool. I'd guess high 40's, if it's 53 now. Probably one of the nicest pro days ever. A decent crowd. Some current players. All or most of coaches down on the field. Delaney came at one point. I doubt that 12 NFL teams were represented (as I think the original press release indicated), judging by the number of people I didn't recognize on the field.

Gotta love the tweet from Missoula TV sports guy, Shaun Rainey:

"Tonga Takai throwing weight around like its nothing 27 bench reps"

Would have been 13th at Combines for d-lineman.

CBS Helena just said Wagenmann improved on bench and broad if I am correct... He is the only Griz they mentioned though... Mentioned the Carroll punter as well...

Tonga Takai runs a 5.3 40 yard dash, wow. TraVon Van's best clocked at 4.49

Would have been 4th slowest at the combine for d-linemen. Obviously this includes DE's who should be faster. Nothing wrong with that time, but definitely nothing to 'wow' about.

Montana

Finishing up on Montana from Monday, there were several impressive performances.

Teams were impressed by the overall athleticism Zack Wagenmann showed. After improving on several of his marks from the combine, Wagenmann ran both defensive line and linebacker drills, looking good in each. Most leaving the workout felt Wagenmann secured himself as a last-day pick, and he met with both the San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers during the previous two days.

I reported on the workout of Vaetuitonga Takai yesterday, and some feel the big defensive tackle may squeeze into the very late picks of Round 7 and at the very least, assured himself of being signed after the 2015 NFL Draft.

Ditto for running back Travon Van. The diminutive back measured 5097/195, ran 40 times of 4.55 and 4.48 seconds, posted a short shuttle time of 4.08 seconds and a 3-cone drill of 6.78 seconds. His vertical jump measured 33 inches, and he completed 16 reps on the bench. Van looked good in ball-carrying drills and terrific catching passes. He was lined up in the slot and on the flanks, and ran great routes besides catching everything. Afterward, Van fielded nearly a dozen punts and looked good.

One of the biggest surprises of the day was Australian punter Rhys Felton of Carroll College in Montana.

First, the background. Felton attended Grossmont JC in Arizona and was headed for Iowa State on a scholarship, but visa issues held things up and he finally landed at Carroll. Last season, he averaged 40.7 years on 45 punts, with a long of 70 yards and three times booted the ball longer than 50 yards.

After measuring 6030/233lbs yesterday, Felton put on a punting clinic. I'm told not only did he punt the air out of the ball, but his directional punting was phenomenal. Felton consistently placed the ball inside the 5- and 10-yard line when asked, putting reverse spin on the ball. He's sure to be signed after the 2015 NFL Draft.

Montana
Approximately a dozen teams are on hand for the Montana pro day.

Zack Wagenmann, the school's only Combine participant, improved in the bench press with 16 reps (14 at Combine) and the broad jump at 9-10 (9-1 combine). He is participating in position drills.

Underrated defensive tackle Vaetuitonga Takai weighed in at 305, completed 27 reps on the bench and ran in the low 5.0s in the 40. He's looked strong as an ox thus far, and scouts have been impressed with his explosion and short-area quickness.
